[deleted post]Currently it is the only reliable Online map service that is available for free. It is highly accurate as long as someone doesn't set out to experiment or tamper with it.

Admittedly it will require quite a few phones (but you can buy second hand junk phones for the occasion) and you'll need a team to pull it off

I always used to to think it should be possible theoretically. Since Google uses only crowd sourced data for the traffic layer on its maps.
