The invention of a Flexible screen was not well-thought out in terms of its application and whether or not it increases the userbility of an electronic device. Mobile Communications industries have been struggling to find its real valuable use. However none has been forthcoming and they have thus decided to sell it as an overpriced piece of electronic gimmick with no real use apart from physical appeal.

It’s by design. Why should Motorola make it more durable? They expect the owners of this RAZR to upgrade to a newer phone by the 1 year mark anyway.

Pabliell, 08 Feb 2020You either have a really long mornings, or you don't leave ... moreReally? Thats your defense?
I work for around 12 hours a day and still end up unlocking my phone for around 150 to 250 times a day (and that is figure is on a busy day) and end up receiving 800-1000+ notifications a day.
The Digital Wellbeing feature shows everything quite accurately.

Foldable screens are just a dumb, gimmicky idea. I really think this is going to be a passing fad.

'Variety' magazine, reported in 2018, that the average U.S. consumer checks their phones 52 times daily. 37,000 ÷ 52 = 711.5 . Hmm.

So in 2 years you can unfold the Razr 37 times daily. Considering you have the smaller screen to check the notifications, I don't think anyone, except for heavy users, will reach that number.
And heavy users will choose a different phone, because that battery won't last for that many unfolds.

geek-a-contra, 07 Feb 2020" ... hinge lasts just 27,000 folds in durability test "
... moreit's because Motorola promised way more durability - that the phone would last at least two years. if you do the math (or look at some of the other comments here), on average 27k folds isn't enough for even one year. especially since you have to unfold the phone to get proper use, to take a phone call, snap a picture with the rear camera that isn't a selfie etc.
also the galaxy fold managed to last 120,000 folds, so "just" is perfectly fine here. one thing I will say though is that the test on the RAZR didn't seem fair and the machine apparently wasn't calibrated properly for the size of the phone.

Even this article says an American(not heavy users) averagely check their phone 52 times a day.

so here is what old humans proud of.
and i think its a shame to spend $1400 for a
prototype device. if you old humans want a nostalgic
feels then dont use it, just put it on a ball glass.

There's also a gap the screen lifted up when open and close the Razr that most reviewers including Motorolla are not telling.
