Kissio, 10 Feb 2020Best night mode -> Huawei P30 Pro and Mate 30 Pro.Yeah, Huawei really did a good job with the P30, and I agree at least amongst Android phones, the P30/P30Pro is still one of the best for night mode.

If this is what s20 ultra zoom is about to work, it is even worse than 30x only digital zoom and this is supposed to be 10x optical zoom and 3x crop...what are you doing and why?

20 and 20+ have 12MP 1/1.7", about 40-42mm2.
Ultra has 1/1.33", about 72mm2.

Ultra wide is worse.
Less details on the box, softer flooring.

Original-Jamaican, 10 Feb 2020Photos look ok. The night shots are ok. I guess based on ho... moreFirst these photos are from S20+ which has 12MP 1.8 micron pixels whereas the 108MP On Ultra uses Nonacell for 12MP 2.4 micron pixels and on top of that it has gone through twitter compression.. Let's wait for the launch,it might still note be worth the hype but the hype was never created by Samsung themselves

It seems the main camera receives a nice upgrade from S10 - better retained colours and wider dynamic range in extreme low light, though the heavy blur on the bottom part of the photos concerns me quite a bit. The indoor photo, however, looks far more promising with decent detail capture and pleasing colours (though there's still way too much noise and sharpening I'd like to see from a large 1/1.7" sensor). I wonder how much it got better from S10 during the day and in terms of general detail capture with this brand new sensor, because that has been the biggest weakness of the whole Galaxy lineup for at least a year now.
UWA camera, on the other hand.. S20 looks a lot worse for some reason? That's some terrible NR S20 is applying over there, but hopefully the retail firmware will bring better image processing. I can't really comment on a zoom photo since there's no reference image from S10 to compare.
I believe you can deliver this time around, Samsung. Don't disappoint us please.

Shui8, 10 Feb 2020Its from S20 & S20+, not the Ultra.
At the moment, t... moreI dont think this year is going to be only Samsung and Huawei. Considering that everyone else seems to go 64mp or 108mp quad bayer....There wont be provider, which will stay on 12mp, although 12mp but rightly done, could be also excellent.
But ppl are ppl, they see smthing higher like 48mp < 64mp they will go for 64mp albiet mp doesnt mean alot.
This year with right approach every brand has a chance. I expect a lot from Xiaomi and Sony for instance.

Hands on samples on S20 Ultra are out - https://youtu.be/mrg6v5cGT1k
Looks like they change the '100x space zoom' label to '10x Hybrid Optic Zoom'. This is likely confirms that it only has 5x real optical zoom only, while the 10x Hybrid are combination from 64mp telephoto lens & 5x periscope.
Or maybe its a different variant of S20 Ultra lol.

Its from S20 & S20+, not the Ultra.
At the moment, theres no wow effect about the camera quality samples. I've seen others already nail it on low light situation. Well at least this time around, looks like Samsung got rid off that cartoony color looks on their previous phones (comparison between S10).
This is for sure just an early stage software. Lets see what Huawei P40 got to offer.

Original-Jamaican, 10 Feb 2020Photos look ok. The night shots are ok. I guess based on ho... moreI believe none of these photos are from S20Ultra, they are all from S20 and S20+, so can't really say much about the 108MP sensor.

Photos look ok. The night shots are ok. I guess based on how the hype boosted up the 108MP I was expecting a miracle. These preliminary photos don't woo me. Then again these are probably from a prototype. Let's see what GSMArena samples look like as I expect them to get an official unit or at least a unit with the final firmware.

The second shot (back yard) looks very impressive. Now we have to see how it compares to Huawei/Pixel 4.
