Recording 8K video with a Galaxy S20 will take a toll on storage, but not as much as you think

12 February 2020
All three of the new Samsung flagships support 8K. You can upload the videos to YouTube, stream them to a QLED TV or pull 33MP stills from them.

So the S20 user can capture 8K video and watching the 8K video on their 2K display lol, even it can capture 4K video but still a 2K display not so complete experience.

The PPI of the screen doesn't really matter until you also consider the apparent size it takes on your field of view. Check this for example to understand what I mean https://www.rgb.com/display-size-resolution-and-ideal-viewing-distance

The larger the size of a display the less ppi it have. That's why 8k are supersized tv. If 4k tv were to be super enlarge the difference is obvious with less ppi. When did the last time you go shopping for tv? You should try to see the size availability. I can tell you right now you will never find 8k tv below 60inch. 4k tv, yes.

I suppose someone had to be first to bring out an 8k recording option.
So glad most android phones have the option of using a micro SD card for memory storage. i wouldnt buy a phone that didnt.
ps. im still happy video recording in 640x480.

Luxor, 13 Feb 2020Not all of us but there surely also a lot of us do own one.... moreMost people can't even tell the difference between FHD and 4K, either the individual pixels are too small to tell apart or the screen size is too big and you have to step back to watch from further away and even with perfect vision it will have the exact same effect. 8K is even more of a gimmick, just to lure people to spend more money on something they don't need

And yet can't do 720p 60fps, the perfect compromise between space and video quality.

I'm still more than satisfied with 1080p video recording. 4K is fine but 8K is like a feature no one asked for. Stupid gimmick. Lol smartphone companies these days have no real innovative solutions and are resorting to be ahead in the numbers game.
