NipponFan, 14 Feb 2020Non removable batteries are a tool of spying companies. Take off your tin foil hat and join the rest of sane, functional, and logical society. There is literally zero verifiable or factual proof on non-removable batteries being used for any type of spying.

All i want sony to make is a new compact phone. They dominated the market with their compact line then stopped making them.
I hate having to hold a phone with two hands or needing one handed mode or to use phone ring or popsocket to solve not reaching to certain places on screen.

Maybe its sony's take on the dot notch, bar notch and other notches ? What say ?

John, 15 Feb 2020No, The Xperia XZ1 was released directly with android 8.0 v... moreXZ Premium/XZ1/XZ1c are part of the same family and XZ1/XZ1c were the very first phones available for purchase with Android 8 out of the box while XZ Premium was updated to 8.
Same fate will happen to XZ3 which was the first phone with Android 9 out of the box but since it's in the family with XZ2/XZ2c which were released with Android 8 it will only get one major OS upgrade.
On contrary Xperia 5 was released with Android 9 and it was upgraded to Android 10 only few months down the road and it will be updated to Android 11 eventually. Does this make it any better? No, it should have shipped with Android 10 from the very beginning. I want to believe Sony was behind schedule with Android 10 instead of them shipping the phone with Android 9 on purpose cause people gonna backlash how their device got only one upgrade.

six_tymes, 14 Feb 2020Does anyone know approximately when the 1.1 might be releas... moreBecause of corona virus, midranges may ship later than usual.
More componets are from companies that make them in China like the LCD (usually Lg screen).
Instead of late may, flagship may be out in April.
Sony seems to be awere people hate to wait until last week of may.
To avoid leaks, they start production of flagship after MWC only.

Flo08, 14 Feb 2020Well, if they want to give the same quality with their came... moresmartphone cameras can never match dedicated cameras, the former may attain the sensor sizes of the latter, but in terms of focal length, lens sizes, aperture, use of mechanical shutter in mirrorless, etc, so there will be no cannibalism of camera sales. simply, software enhancements can never match physical attributes of an image output. i guess what i am trying to say is that those who buy dedicated cameras today already knows the same thing i know that these smartphone cameras can never match dedicated cameras.

>2 or even 3 out of the 4 sensors could be made by Samsung and not Sony
It doesn't make sense, Sony Semiconductors should have alternatives, and there's no reason to use the exact models of Samsung sensors that lack Sony alternatives, unless we're seeing some sort of platform sharing on smartphones now to reduce cost, and this shares a platform with S10+??

Hepo, 14 Feb 2020Jack through dongle and sd is there, anything else? MicroSDXC slot is indeed intact, but for the former statement of yours, judging from Steve Hemmerstoffer's (OnLeaks) render leak about upcoming 2020 Xperia flagship's, it does included a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top (Sony's phone usual location, either flagship or mid-ranger), and almost all the time, his leaks was accurate. So the upcoming Xperia (flagship) can connect through 3.5mm without a dongle.

VPC, 14 Feb 2020I don't think that it's a big top-notch, but it's a slider ... moreI don't know dude, but slider phone from Sony could been a no dice. Last Sony phone to have slider form factor was even during last era of Sony Ericsson from 2011, and that phone was Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro. After that, Sony never made any slider phone during the Sony-only era and there's a statement about that, not even when the revival-repurposed of slider phone in 2018... Sure, there's could be a hope and chance, but that's very slim...

NipponFan, 14 Feb 2020Non removable batteries are a tool of spying companies. Take off the tinfoil hat and accept you will never have a new phone with a removable battery ever again. Buy old phones or shitty Fairphones if you want it so bad and STFU.
