taghack, 16 Feb 2020Thank for the suggestion. It is a rather interesting one, s... moreAs far as I am aware, Dolby Atmos for Mobile also applies to headphones (I am pretty sure you are aware, but putting it here for the rest. I can't vouch for its usefulness, though).
You raise a significant unintended misinformation concern and I guess the cost of explicitly stating single speakers was considered, but as you said it's just the main false assumption. According to Dolby, if it applies to general mobile content is mostly up to the manufacturer, so there is indeed too much variability for it to be a non-misleading spec.

This is hilarious. Stop focusing on consumer tech for a week due to MWC cancelation and now we're worried? Or concerned well miss something? A cell phone is the least of our worries even if it pays your bills (pun intended).
I think we'll survive

TheGoldenMellifluous, 17 Feb 2020Well, MWC is more than just an ordinary event. Investment, ... moreBut still, all those big company, who are the ones other (including small ones) copy from, for this year have phone full of stupid and even majoritarily unwanted techs while having lots of potentiel good ones missing.
Well, you can make revolutionary tech, but if your phone have really modern and last gen tech mixed with old and outdated one, it would be as stupid as a modern smart electric car with self driving that have wooden wheels like a carriage...
You can put accessible variant of new tech as it is not necessary that all phone are flagships, but if even your flagship have old and outdated tech that could be replaced by way better things, there is no point...

Anonymous, 16 Feb 2020Side finprint scanner is much better.
You take phone out o... moreI prefer way more the indisplay one.
Side one would be my second choice as they are the least inconvenient non-indisplay ones.
The frontal one my third as it require a chinn but also it become a pain to unlock it on some stations where you can barely fit your thumb properly.
And rear one last as you can't just simply unlock your phone while it lay down, is on a station or on a phone holder.
Side ones have a big problem, that is they only take a slice of your fingerprint, meaning it is heavily orientation biased and have inherently less security since less of your fingerprint is readed, it can also clash with power/volume buttons, there is risk of accidental unlock and it can't be compatible with the two finger system except if you put two readers.
The future is whole screen, indisplay fingerprint reader with multiple fingers.

Sony filled patent of new tipe of sensor to use.
I think only flagships will have.
It will avoid issues with Apple in UsA, no need to pay royalties.
It is 2-1 sensor to improve accuracy and area scanned.
