HMS will succeed, just give it a bit of time to mature. Huawei also needs to push HMS as a free service to other Android phones to spread the word. Google charges $60 per phone, so as HMS gets close to Google, watch out...

So P40 series will follow this route. Not bad. Certainly an attractive option for people who want less Google in their lives. Since Huawei is the 2nd-highest selling smartphone brand, most app developers will offer their apps on the platform. Apps that are dependent on GMS will get modified to work on HMS as well. I see this working out. Yes Huawei's sales will not be as good as before, but that can improve over time. Good luck to them.

The problem is that some apps require Google play store authentication. So netbank apps can be an issue.

Shui8, 18 Feb 2020New method to sideload GMS - https://youtu.be/xN4dgLtC1I0 ... moreNot quite sure if it's a good idea to recommend people to install GMS using this proposed method.. As already pointed out in xda, this installer app asks for tons of unnecessary permissions which good old LZPlay didn't. I think using the backup data method is more time consuming but far more secure and reliable way at the same time.

NotAnOpinion, 18 Feb 2020On any device, huh? So, that means, Huawei do have backdoor... moreGoogle Play installer for Huawei phone use the company's proprietary API that is similar to what many Chinese manufacturers (e.g. Xiaomi, Meizu) also have on their phones, allowing certain authorised 3rd party apps to behave like user-level package installer. You're making it look like the existence of such API is such a serious security issue by using the term "backdoor", but that's not really the case here.

Sonu4678, 18 Feb 2020So you decided to resolve this conversation by throwing mud... moreNope. I resolved it already repeatedly on the top sentence.

The last sentence, well you know, be happy with your brand. But dont make assumption blindly beyond facts.
