AverageUser, 18 Feb 2020Instead of making phones more durable, they are making them... moreThese foldable/rollable/stretchable/expandable phones are for people who prefer style over substance. I don't see them replacing brick style phones anything soon. So don't worry about that. What you may worry about are technologies that are being killed for commercial reasons, such as 3.5mm jack & removable batteries (both of them are practically gone).

rosli59564, 18 Feb 2020Innovate something which tends to break easily isn't an inn... moreFirst of all, this is just a concept, and we know very little about it. Your assumption that it "breaks easily" is baseless. Let's first learn about the product/concept, then talk about it.

Secondly, even if something breaks easily, it doesn't make it non-innovative. Anything that's new & unique is referred to as innovative irregardless of it's flaws. For example, People are complimenting Samsung's faux glass "UTG" display which isn't any more durable or scratch-resistant than plastic, which it's supposed to replace.

Very clever design if it is practical.

Instead of making phones more durable, they are making them increasingly more fragile, while also more expensive. That is not the trend I like...

Anonymous, 18 Feb 2020Thats real innovation unlike Samsung or AppleInnovate something which tends to break easily isn't an innovation. Doesn't matter who. Besides it's just a concept.

Probably a prototype or concept for a different design like the mi mix alpha.

Ugh! This is one of these times that a video demo would be more sufficed.

That looks pretty good. As for how it works. It's possible it might be two separate screens. One screen always stays outside. The other one can be dragged out when needed. The two align perfectly so you get a seemless screen.

Either that, or it's a complex single display solution. It's intriguing either way.

It's good to see innovative ideas like these because for the past 5 years innovation took a huge drop.
