They have the plan for the next years allready.. the can not offer too much in one year even if they have the technology available..

Yes finally we will get a full quality AMOLED screen unlike others who still believe FHD+ or what ever resolution launched back in the 2013 is sufficient for a Pentile Matrix AMOLED. Thanks for that SAMSUNG u r Super.

120Hz QHD is probably obsolette when paired with underpowered Exynos chipset. One source has pointed out that Exynos 990 can't match Apple A12. Make sure you're getting a SD variant.

High-Refresh gaming phones have been around for over 2 years now (Even Rog 1 had a 90hz screen, but nobody adapted it). OnePlus 7 Pro was the first mainstream phone to launch with a high-refresh screen, and it was loved by critics and users alike (because most users aren't gamers). Pixel 4 & Rog 2 came months later.

Rog 2 is a great gaming phone, but it wasn't the reason why everyone is implementing high-refresh rate screens on their phones now.

If you still disagree, then let's just agree to disagree.

Told you guys, it does 120hz @QHD Resolution. Samsung just locked it by default to conserve battery.

Fantastic news! Really looking forward to getting the S20. My only gripe has been resolved.

Anonymous, 18 Feb 2020It has one huge compromise: thé priceUsually no compromises equals a justified, higher cost. People are talking about taking a close to dslr quality camera system and shoving it into the most spec'd out laptop with the highest quality display, that can connect to a network basically ANYWHERE in the world at ridiculous speeds all while shrinking it down to fit in the palm of your hand with all day battery life and then expecting it to cost $500? Oh and I forgot that these same people want it to be able to withstand a drop from a plane and being underwater for 24 hrs, while being the sleekest, sexiest design of metal and glass, lol. I mean seriously?

They should copy the "promotion" technology from Apples ipad pro
To have 120hz non stop for everything is problematic

The fact that it is only either 60Hz or 120Hz instead of variable is concerning. Maybe Samsung is jumping the gun too early just so that they can say they have 120Hz on their marketing? They should do a variable refresh rate, which will be a lot better for the battery, and then they don't have to have a problem disabling it by default in the first place.

It will burden a lot the screen since its amoled plus the 120 hz is activated. Not sure if it will not overheat. They didn't allowed the 120 hz in QHD+ at the first place because they know this and it will drain the battery faster unlike 120 hz at HD only.

They just considered this option 120hz at QHD+ due to customer's demand.

Love the Community, 18 Feb 2020Here's a difference. IGZO IPS LCD can easily do 120hz at 14... moreNo it isn't. The only reason 1440p 120hz OLED displays weren't made till yet is because there wasn't any demand for such displays until the high-refresh rate trend started last year. OnePlus played a crucial role in hyping it up, and then Google & the rest of the mainstream brands jumped on the bandwagon. This year OnePlus, Google & iPhone are all launching 120HZ 1440p OLED phones (well the iPhone's custom resolution would be a bit less, but still comparable).

I'm not dissing Samsung though, they make great displays. I'm just saying 120hz @ 1440p is not new to the smartphone world.

They have these 3 options below:
                                        1. High - Always 120hz no matter what
                                        2. Dynamic - It will be 120 hz but sometimes it will go down to 60 hz if the temperature limit met or other apps do not need 120 hz so it will be back to 60 hz.
                                        3. Standard - Stays 60 hz forever
