I bought it ... moreOld smartphones have very low screen-on time per day compared to modern phones with predominantly social media, GPS and Video playback (via Youtube) right now. Old phones tends to be used less. I would say that your S8500 might be 10 yrs old but your usage per day won't even last an hour per session with frequent on and off instead of a sustained continuous screen on time, do you get this part? Do you even know what the technology offers? It's own negatives? Before you say that I said was nonesense, it's not that hard to visit Samsung forums, XDA Forums and even Reddit to easily know that burn-in exists even in their latest flaship Note 10 Series. You claiming that no burn-in exist just shows your own usage per session which is short, you don't use your phone that much with screen turned-on continuously. Try using your phone GPS (Google maps) at full brightness everyday for 2 hrs (continuous) for 6 months and you'll know what a burn in is. Burn in can happen even though you said it never does.

Samsung acknowledges this issue and they're replacing the screen and even the whole phone under warranty.

I bought it in 2010 and have been using it every single day since (yay for removable batteries). The display is AMOLED and it's like new - no burn in , no fading, not tint, no change in colour balance, no faded blues. I also have an S6 Edge I use at home for access to more modern apps and which I use as a sort of mini-tablet. That's now a 4 year old AMOLED display. No burn in and no change in the display. So, you are talking nonsense.

You are the guy who's sitting with some other people watching a drag race between a Tesla 3 Performance and and a VW Golf 1.6, where the Tesla crosses the line 200m ahead, and declares to everyone the Golf won. You don't see RGB or Pentile, the emitters are too small, you see the end result of the optical illusion they create. Apple claimed for years that RGB and LCD produced superior images - they were lying - and then they suddenly switched to AMOLED as soon as they could get their hands on them, even though they cost a lot more than the LCD displays were using and they had to charge over a grand for the 10 X to maintain their precious margins. Then Apple only put AMOLED displays on their premium most expensive phones. The illusion created by RGB is not superior, the measurements show this clearly.

Sammy displays are generally of high-quality, despite calibrated decently (OLED panels have blue tint and very low PWM flicker for OLED, as confirmed by Notebookcheck-some models have seriously low PWM and causes severe eyestrain).
Its WQHD resolution is impressive and there are only few phones with WQHD sceeens.
Sammy also manufactures good cameras or lenses. Image processing is quite weak on Exynos chipset models (ex. S10/Note 10 Exynos), however, but awesome in Snapdragon models. The S10+ SD has impeccable image quality.
The issue with Sammy phones are pricing. Sammy phones cost a lot these days. Why buy an A80 if you can get a realme X2 Pro, Mi Note 10, or Zenfone 6? S10 already costs more than the iPhone 11 anew, and not necessarily better unless equipped with the SD chipset. 2nd hand prices are also over the top. Also, Sammy tends to market some models with in-house Exynos chipsets. Most Exynos Sammys have below par performance.

I concur, the phone cameras are awful. My 5D4 gives photos with much better quality. Huawei phones are much better.
But all phone cameras are all pretty crappy.

Let's hope that the next gen Dynamic AMOLED will use the superior RGB instead of Diamond PenTile. Display Mate will say the exact same thing but 50% to 100% better than the PenTile one. Samsung is a Billion dollar company and they never had a single loss so they should take risk and bring back RGB on their AMOLEDs.

The Xiaomi Mi 10 Tops the DXO Mark charts and has way better dynamic range and detail than all other smartphone cameras, by a huge margin. The Huawei does come close though. The iPhone blows out highlights, badly, in comparison, as do all other 12MP cameras on smartphones.
The Samsung S20 Ultra has the same image sensor, but with a Different Colour Filter Array (CFA). The one on the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro is a Tetracell/Quad Pixel array which combines 4 pixels (meaning a Bayer Pattern with 4 pixels having the same colour, and thus creating a matrix of 16 pixels for the Bayer CFA, which creates a Single Pixel in the final image), thereby creating a final 27MP image. Instead of having a 2×2 CFA, Samsung had chosen a 3×3 CFA, which should, theoretically double the low light performance (or more, if it can combine more frames for HDR) and also increase sharpness substantially, in comparison with a 12MP sensor. Though it may lack a hair bit of detail, compared with the 27MP the Xiaomi's Tetracell puts out. Since the Xiaomi does aggressive noise reduction, if Samsung goes easy on noise reduction, and does perfect digital sharpening (meaning below mid level), it should produce images as detailed and sharp as the Xiaomi, minus the watercolour effects.
I am guessing the Samsung S20 Ultra is being tested right now, and the results should be released by DXO Mark, very soon.

Yes, Samsung does have the best display on ... moreIts not just about keyboard,in my s10+ since i bought the phone and im setting the sceen at hd+ resolution without activating brightness increase and my screen have burn in ,i play pubg mobile for about 4 hours per day,2 hours at night and 2 hours at day,i can clearly see a gun, backpack and reloading button,the screen is fantastic ,but its time for samsung to use microled,samsung have shown that they care about games by using 120hz screen,240hz touch sensing and dolby atmos for gaming,its annoying to pay 1000$ or more for a high end smartphone and after just a few months later your screen will have a burn in

Triluminos Display technology has been used on Xperia flagships since the Z2, and it's been a remarkable panel that came the closest to the greatness of OLED during their time.
If you have seen the display on phones like the XZ Premium or XZ2 Premium, you'd easily appreciate the extreme sharpness and liveliness (yet still natural) look of their displays. In fact, they're so good that you'd be easily mistakening it from a high end OLED screen.
Basically, Sony's IPS screens are much better than low quality OLED screens used in lower tier smartphones.

People will complain and say that the S20 ultra or how is it called, has problems here and there. And will not be satisfied with the phone in the end. Other people, me included, are so happy with a TFT screen from Samsung. And I even watch movies from Netflix on it.
So yeah, there are two types of people..
P.S. You should come to Czech Republic, people in here are having or even buying Samsung S4 phones (from SH stores of course). In 2020. Not to mention, I saw phones displays cracked in 50% of the screen and people were still using them because they worked. And not because they couldn't afford a new phone, but some people are more intelligent than other, and think that other things are more important in life.

To clarify:
1. Yes, Samsung does have the best display on the market, and Samsung is a leader when it comes to display quality.
2. You should not have issues if you don't have static images on your screen often, or if you don't put your brightness too high.
3. Burn in is a REAL issue, and yes, it can happen within a week, if you use max brightness and use your keyboard all the time, guess what? You'll have masive burn in of entire keyboard very fast!
If you use Gmaps on a long trip, with max brightness on - you'll probably suffer from burn in...
Fall asleep with Youtube on auto play in portrait mode? - you might wake up to see horrible burn-in...
Burn-in can happen very fast in right (or wrong) conditions. However if you use your phone with common sense and are aware of it - it might take years for it to happen.
4. It kinda sucks to pay that much for a device and then have boundaries about it's use because of issues like burn-in. But AMOLED and OLED screens do look much better (unless they burn in LOL).

Regardless of all the exaggerated claims of burn-ins, OLED is the gold standard and it's great that Samsung is forever improving its quality and leading the market.
Now the DXO Mark figures are awaited, and if the Xiaomi can do wonders with the 108MP Sensor (in a Tetracell/QuadBayer Pattern), then the Samsung S20 Ultra (with the Nonacell Pattern), should be atleast a few points ahead.
