Xfade, 23 Feb 2020Not sure how a screen affects a selfie posted in instagram.... moreObviously the final picture depend on the camera, but when you are taking it and you are tweaking the settings or when you are doing some post treatment, you need to see what you are doing, that's why there are monitors specialised for graphic applications.

Anonymous, 21 Feb 2020Advantages of IPS LCD over AMOLED: - For many selfie-craze... morePersonally I don't really care or prefer one over another except for the fact that there is some feature and things from OLED that I actually do like which is :

Always On Display, I actually hate when a smartphone doesn't have this feature which is -really useful, or just even the simple display turning on and showing some informations like time, date, battery level and notifications when we move it or tap the screen, an LCD one have to lit fully for that because of the backlighting.
-LCD also have the issue of glowing black because of the backlight.
-And also, LCD burn way more power than OLED.

Though if one would make an LCD with an addressable and dimmable backlight that can simply lit some regions and automatically dim backlight where there is cold and dark colors (which would allow for a battery efficient Always On Display alternative) and find a way to reduce the power consumption of LCD to make them closed to OLED, I'll be more than happy to have an LCD, but until then, I see more advantages of OLED over LCD, even if for the tech themselves I don't have preferences.
But even a good AOD version of LCD like LG did would be good enough for me as long as the battery don't drain like crazy.

The same debate goes on between electric vs internal combustion engine cars, everyone have its preferences and make good points.

I'll admit that it won't hurt if more Smartphone had more differences, including more models released with LCD over OLED, but there is still a good number available though, unlike other things like pop up camera or Audio Jack or Notification LED which all three are clearly under numbered.
But hey I understand you as someone who also fight for a feature only put on the minority of smartphones.

Advantages of IPS LCD over AMOLED:
            - For many selfie-crazed persons, it is important that the screen can display neutral-white and natural skin-tone simultaneously. You can do that easily with IPS but not with AMOLED.
            - The AMOLED has very limited life-span due to rapid aging process via oxidation, and this self-deterioration starts as soon as the panel is formed, regardless whether it is being used or not. If you want to keep your phone beyond three years, you have to deal with the ever-deteriorating display quality: darkened screen, color shift, etc. IPS can last more than twice as long without any noticeable deterioration.

AMOLED is a perfect fit for high-priced flagship smartphones because buyers will be forced to upgrade their flagship phones within 3 years.

Note: SD865 is an expensive SoC to use at the moment!
