SA: 5G smartphones to make up 15% of the market in 2020

21 February 2020
The estimates are that we'll see 199 million 5G smartphone sales this year.

Don't be surprised if that "at least 1 year" turns to 5 when it comes to 5G in India.

Telecom Operators are under huge pressure from all sides, a price they paid when choosing to make India a country with lowest data rates. Now they can't afford 5G spectrum licenses. Nor are they able to pay the AGR as Supreme Court directed them. Govt. Bureaucracy complications don't help and lastly, their own greed and evasions of all sorts will, again, make India one of the last countries to have latest cellphone standards. It happened with 3G, it happened with 4G. It'll again happen with 5G.

It's not just about the 5G
Don't think that the price is high because of it
Maybe, but samsung is pricing its 4g phones the same as their 5g phones so why buy the 4g when you can get 5g? Are you always in your country? You don't travel where they might be 5g? It's not just about staying in your country
            Have some brains

Don't expect 5G in India for another 3 to 4 years, and Vodafone idea so close to liquidation now and Airtel the same way,

Jio is on front seat for complete control of telecom, India killed it's competition bform 10 networks down to just 3, now it's going to be 2 very soon.

Also 5G in India is just 4G+ due to it being a 3.3-3.6Ghz network, and not being 26Ghz mm Network.

Already Jio 4G speed feels like 3G speeds with 2G latency, with Jio 5G you will finally have ability to play 720p on the go, while other 5G countries will enjoy 4K on the go.

Alright so give us that meaditek dimensity 1000 please with integrated 5g

And av1 codec for future proofing

These 865 phones will be left in the dust for media consumption sooner or later because of no av1 support
