According to a statement from Xiaomi (India) in 2018, the primary criterion is whether that particular product will sell well enough to make such an introduction economically viable. The rule of thumbs at the time was 100000 units. If that product could sell at least 100000 units, they would consider it for introduction to Indian market.

Hard to believe that xiaomi will launch Mix alpha in India...Xiaomi thinks Indians are poor to buy their premium phones that's why they didn't launch Mi 7, 9 also they are not gonna launch Mi 10/10 pro in India.
