Shadocx, 24 Feb 2020How's Meizu with software updates?Depends if it's Chinese or global ROM. From what I've read, Chinese is alright while global is bad or almost non-existent and they don't update Android versions. Considering Meizu only sells their phones in China and their company size is nothing compared to the big dogs, that is to be expected. Too bad Meizu locked the bootloader, it would've at least give it some more fresh air. If you're concerned about the software, I wouldn't suggest their phones.
I'm certain that all the Chinese branded phone have better support for China ROM when compared to global ROM. Oneplus might be a different story.

It's still early 2020, let's see what's coming next :)

In 2020, 90hz is certainly not "flagship grade" anymore, is it?
Although, Meizu has a knack for quircky hardware and beautiful designs. I remember closely watching their launches when they were the only one who sourced exynos chipsets apart from Samsung.
But their software sucks. Period.

Meizu phones are good on paper meaning good specs, beautiful designs but wait til u own one and you will feel the importance of software stability. And lastly never buy a meizu phone with mediatek chipset you wont be able to flash custom roms.

I remembered buying the mx5 after 3 months it was released and never been dissapointed. That would be my last mrizu phone, they're much worse than xiaomi at providing software updates. And lastly their devs doesnt really know the exact definition of stable rom.

These screenshots are fake. That video app (second one in the top) even says Xiaomi in Chinese and all of the icons are from MIUI.

I personally don't mind USB 2.0 despite transferring like several gigabytes of stuff from my phone to my PC. Video output sucked the hell out of my battery so I'll never use that.
Stereo speakers is a good feature to ask for. I'm not sure whether the 16s Pro has them or not since their previous flagships actually do have it. However, many phones that do have what I'd say pseudo-stereo speakers don't add up much to the feel due to the earpiece delivering different frequencies and loudness. I had the Mate 10 and was really disappointed to hear that feeble sounding earpiece. Even the iPhone 7 trounces it when it comes to sound balance. At least the S10+ does it right.
Meizu's pricing on the 16s Pro is perhaps the dealbreaker, perhaps due to having certain premium components. I noticed the 16T had some compromises to keep the pricing really low.
I doubt anyone will make compact phones. Samsung is going forward into making longer phones which is crazy. Your best bet would be an iPhone 9 or 12 but they ain't Android.

I might buy their Meizu 17 if it's not too big and has stereo speakers, I was looking to buy the Xiaomi Mi 10 but it's huge curved display are keeping me away.
It's still early 2020, I hope some company makes a phone with SD 865 and display smaller than 6.4 inches.

Even OnePlus China has a different ROM than their other counterparts. Thankfully with Android 10, Chinese manufacturers have made them more...easy to look in the eye. As long as they have a theme that looks similar to stock Android, I have no problems using Chinese phones.

I've been eyeing on their phones for ages since the M1 Note but never had a chance to buy them and instead picked on Xiaomi. Some of their phones have that one stand out feature that differentiates from the rest of the competition, the one that interests me the most are their massive phablets, the latest being the 16T.
What changed your mind when you decided to not get the 16S Pro? I think it's an overall good package but there are probably better alternatives. Sad to see Meizu ditching the headphone jack gang.

Meizu have really beautiful phones with top specs. The 16s pro even has UFS 3.0 storage. The only issue I've heard is that the Flyme has many bugs. But that's something I haven't tested myself. In fact I still don't understand why these -not so popular- companies don't use vanilla Android and they heavy up their UI.
