Plus they have a plethora of low-mid-range phones. And they also have sister brands that are doing very well, Vivo and Realme.

      The Last Oracle, 24 Feb 2020You're confusing various types of HDR. Each group or compan... moreI'm not aware of any phone that can record HDR10 videos, as a matter of fact from what I know only Samsung and Sony can record HDR videos and they both use HLG format.

      Theoretically they could do 8K HLG and overcome SD865 limitations by recording very high bitrate 4K HLG and then upscale it to 8K. That would kill the battery for sure or it would require additional dedicated chip on board (like X1 Ultimate) to manage the CPU load. It's a workaround for sure but from what I've seen on 8K TVs if you play UHD-Bluray it can upscale the image and keep high quality to 8K due to extra data available on the disc.

      I don't think Xperia 1 has G Master, I think they've used some G that could be glass instead of plastic. Correct me if I'm wrong but anyway any Xperia flagship before Xperia 1 has used only plastic G lenses for sure

It's very important for me. Really good phones always easy to re-sell without loosing much. I don't like to waste $1k for a dinky phone every year even if I can afford it, you know. I understand that phone makers are trying their best to force us to do that but no, thanks!

Each group or company had it's own HDR standard based upon dynamic range and bit depth. Also, unfortunately Snapdragon 865 doesn't support 8k HDR, unless a manufacturer uses a special and extra ISPs, so Sony getting 8k HDR seems unlikely. Having having that, if you watch the Samsung 8k video, it looks like HDR, regardless of the fact that it actually isn't.


                  T Glass is only the lens coating, and will be better than the Sony G Master glass, but only by a little, and only for anti-flare. The G Master lenses probably resolve more detail than Zeiss.

Xperia 5 was better op... morei did not "xperiance" the 5 but i had the 1 for a couple of months; i can attest to the fact that the 1 had terrible battery life. it probably is because of the display resolution, being 4k, while the 5 is only fhd. while the 5 did have good reviews about its battery endurance despite the mediocre capacity by 2019 standards.

                          A shame...was hopping for a new camera system and sensors...why not a 48mp or 64mp module? The rest of the phone is really nice

                            Not possible. If Sony uses a Samsung sensor, it would be ocntradicting itself about its sensor being superior to Samsung's sensors (whereas, infact, both their sensors are almost identical on quality).
