I thought Xperia 1ii gonna max at £1000. Oh well, by the spring comes, P40 series already launch & ready to buy. Its camera setup maybe one of the best as always, again. But no GMS will letdown most consumers though.
As for the 10ii & L4, definitely on very very overpriced side. Competition is very thought, Sony. If 10ii using at least SD730, the price is spot on. L4? Redmi Note 8 & Realme 3 Pro says hi. Those two even cheaper & its specs leave the L4 to dust.

Sony still hasn't learnt from their mistakes. I have no qualms about the hardware but the pricing...uugghh, especially Xperia 1 II, it's even worse than the launch price at €949 for Xperia 1, which at least bundled with a Sony WH-1000XM3. Even if they bundled with a 4K TV (which I guess a lot of people own), it's still overpriced. By the time their new flagship releases, the S20s would have had their price slashed considerably and they wonder why no one buys their phones. If they released a successor to the Xperia 5 at the same time, it would've been interesting to see which one would sell better. Seriously Sony, you need to get rid of your pride.

These phones are priced low because they are skimming on quality control all around and development time. Every time I use a Samsung or a Sony you can tell they put effort into things.
Sony having strong mid-range/flagship to compete with Samsung and iPhone is simply amazing.
they need to fix their turnaround time for releasing new spec( which it seems the new leadership is aware of that). in couple of cycles they will be back to being leading the spec sheet or on bar.
as far as advertising, if they up their game they can make it back into the North american market and the middle east.

And yes, the vanilla S20 & S20+ using fake cropped zoom. The 64mp true magnification are actually only at 1.06x, the so called '3x hybrid optical' are actually cropped 64mp, means not having real telephoto focal length angle distortion. I think its worst than S10 series.

I think the pricing is good.
Most of the people don't know how that Sony many famous brands that sell like hotcakes from them.
Sony featured some of their famous brands to revive their phones so the people can't see the price.
The people buy what they want and specially when it is from Apple, they don't only buy the phone which is expansive, but also the phone's accessories so that one person threws around 1500 $ depending on the storage. Same with Samsung but less than Apple but it is still expensive.
Also the people bought that galaxy fold which was too expensive and fragile
so why blame Sony????

Didnt look up those Galaxies before now, cause I aint interested at all in any Samsung overpriced and overmarketed baloony...
But yup, same price range...
Its ridiculous pricing, for both Sony and Samsung.
Unaffordable by 90% of people here.
Wish Sony did a cheaper 128 gb and 4g version too... it would be more appreciated by not so rich tech enthusiasts.
Hope 5markII will come in some 4g and 128 gb version for about 700... I'd buy that.
But this... no thanks.

I was hoping it will be released with the WF-1000M4 or WH-1000M4. my wife iphone 11 pro max looked good until I saw that baby.

Im a big believer if u have it if u make it in house use it Example Ram 16gb storage 512 UFS3.0 processor 5g chips they make it all use it all Specially the camera samsung want to come up in cameras they did it with the 108.... Also why would sony use samsung cameras ?

[deleted post]Exactly. Sony makes plenty of money selling its camera sensors to Apple, Xiaomi, Samsung etc. There's no need to put them in Xperia phones. Sony's mobile division is losing money quarter after quarter, but Sony doesn't care as it's making tons of money in gaming, movies, cameras etc.

Anyway, where I'm from all the S20 phones only have 128Gb internal storage, not ideal if you want to shoot super high res videos in 2020.

In reality we shouldnt even compare these 2 phones sony has nothing on the S20 ultra i mean nothing .....and maybe next year they will over UFS3.1 and 8k recording ohhh and maybe just maybe fingerprint scanner in screen please lol and i also hav 2 last questions what happend to ppi on screen was 800 now its just over 600 and screen to body ratio is 84% whats up with that?

Anyway, I find it amusing that while the Android world is making more and more expensive phones: insane amount of RAM, 100x zoom, 21:9 tall phones, foldables etc, Apple is making iPhones cheaper, and they sell very well. Quite the role reversal, eh?
