potato4k, 26 Feb 2020Apple? At least they put serious effort in recycling, and A... moreSoftware support up to 5 years. We'll give thumbs up to that. But maybe take sometime to watch Rossman's videos so you see that Apple is not the angelic company that the masses and media hold dear.

Soldered SSDs on laptops? Batteries for old models of iphones like the 4S? Anti third party stance and silly services like 1000 USD repair that Louis Rossman fixed for free?

    Give me a break.

Whoever says that removable batteries will cause the waterproof compromise, may I tell you...
      .. that Galaxy S7 had a sealed 3.5mm jack (!) 3 years back (!!).

If they want to do it, its damn possible.

      Thanks to EU for this.
It will help environment in the long run.

Having a bezelless 16:9 6 inch to 7 inch will be unable to wield one handed because phones at this size will be the size of a hand from palm to fingertips so we won't be able to grip it right. Plus we'll lose like one or three extra tweets in twitter because of that size.

          What were you saying again?

Anyone who cries "waterproofing sabotaged!" by this move, is uninformed at best and an apologist at worst. It's been done before and it could still be done.

Price Increase because of that? Boy, average smartphone flagship price is increasing every year for some time, doesn't it? At least this way people get to keep it longer.

Right now only EU is Caring about consumers (at least when it comes electronics and data privacy) Not USA, not China, not India.

Let's hear it for the fearless EU regulators!

Not that I won't buy new in half to one year. Could help the tablets, but then again not so much with foldables coming. Maybe tablets with w10... but cheaper screens and replacement of them would be way better.

The fundamental flaw of OLED (AMOLED) display technology is only masked by the 2-year Android update policy and short battery life span (500 recharge-cycles).

If smartphones are designed to be used for more than 4 year with replaceable batteries, there would be no place for OLED (or AMOLED) as a display choice for smartphones. OLED (AMOLED) screen is designed to be discarded after 2-3 years, unlike IPS which can last beyond 6-7 years.

The news is wonderful for EU residents. Since I am in SEA I'll still be stuck with non-removable battery options for the forseeable future.
