The maintained 144fps in Real Racing 3.

Plus at £400 is was a steal, 120hz is too much for some games like mcoc but 90hz is perfect. Previous Razor phone looked fantastic at 120hz for games but phone would burn heat wise within 3 mins. Snapdragon 865 should handle things well even at 144hz. OS wise, scrolling around phone the diff between 60hz and 120hz is very noticeable. 60 to 90 is better too but 90hz to 120hz you can still tell the difference scrolling menus etc. 144hz from 90hz will be a nice upgrade. Just wish we could watch things on mobile at these refresh rates like YT etc!
P.S if you already have Red Magic 3 you won't need the upgrade, this phone is already better than most 855 android devices and its flat so no stupid waterfall nonsense getting in the way either!

I have been using the Red Magic 3 for 10mths+ now and love it. It does everything I need it to do gaming wise running titles like Marvel Contest of Champions very well even with a case on insulating it and it not overheating. The fan I don't use often but it does help when I need it, if charging and playing for example it really does the job of keeping the phone running perfectly well. I have tried Note 10+, S9, S10, both Black shark 1/2, Razor Phone 1/2, and RoG1/2 and the only one to come close was the OG Razer Phone 1. Wouldn't trade it, just wish the basic software was better like dark mode actually working lol
Hoping Android 10 makes the small issues I have vanish ;)

ASUS ROG Phone 3, 28 Feb 2020Red Magic his our place only after it gets too old, also th... moreYes they only look good on paper, but of course gaming quality is exemplary, that's the use of a gaming phone anyway.

Now an issue is that makers are racing to push more features into their gaming handsets. That's actually encouraging people to swap handsets more often. Even if mitigated by potentially cheaper price, the resale value also automatically plummets too much. Also, there's not much experience from gaming phone users, because this phone won't appeal to normal users who don't play much games.

Apple does provide decent handsets, also behind many OEMs in terms of features, but their updates tend to be incremental, so you can keep the handset for 3 years and is a good investment. I have not heard of quirks other than early builds of ios 13, and of course this is not a gaming handset, so it's pointless to compare this with gaming handsets. Although iPhone XR and above can already display very high details in demanding games (PUBG Mobile-HDR Extreme, Shadowgun Legends-High 60fps, Lifeafter movie graphics 60fps, etc.).

Again, I mentioned that I'm no fanboy to Apple, as I also own a Sammy phone alongside an iPhone (I dislike part of its ecosystem). But I just want to point out that some phones are just a short-term investment which provides you the joy of using it, also short-term. Just see what happens later with that guy's RM3s. Wonder what issues will he run into later.

Just wondering, is there any noticeable difference between 120fps and 144fps on mobile phone games?

Anonymous, 28 Feb 2020Absolute beast. Too bad nubia never releases its phone in P... moreIt's possible to import the Red Magic to most countries provided you pay import tax according to your country.

Servicing, however, requires you to send the unit to ZTE and that'll cost potentially a lot given you live in Pakistan.

"During the testing process, the nubia Red Magic 5G reached median 144 fps with minimum 142 fps while running Real Racing 3, the beloved mobile racing game."

If that is for real, then goodbye Black Shark and ROG Phone.

Looks like Nubia has another winner in their hands. Gaming phones have come a long way.

Internal active cooling inside the phone? No more internal fans, as that will make the phone unreliable and excessively heavy. If dust enters the phone, it can damage internals in the long run. Jerryrigeverything has questioned the reliablity of the fan in his Redmagic 3 review.

In terms of accessories ecosystem, ROG Phone still excels, then the Blackshark.

Unfortunately, for all 3 phones including the Redmagic, software support is lacking, so if there's a bug then it takes very long to be adressed. ROG Phone owners have complained of such problem and have heard few users made the switch to a regular phone.

Gaming performance certainly does excel, but that better be not a daily driver. It's also some hobby owning a gaming phone, this cannot appeal to regular phone users, don't bother asking them to buy a gaming phone despite godzilla specs.

Oh, I also mentioned the nature of mobile games. It grows fast, the industry, but it's just games like PUBG and COD Mobile that are very popular (and needs a gaming phone for best experience), other games like Freefire, AoV, or Mobile Legends just need regular phones and provide good experience (these games are also very popular, but I mean, those games are undemanding). Streaming services like Vortex and Stadia are obsolette for now as they require very high speed internet connection and very low latency and developing/poor countries may not have access to those.

Add variable refresh rate sync on these new phones and you would have a winner. Think about it, no screen tearing and no need to use vsync, which also getting exceptionally smooth gameplay. Would be useful not only in games but also reducing power draw when watching videos or doing things not requiring high refresh rates.

GSMArena - They tested Game for Peace, not PUBG. They are similiar, but different game and PUBG is capped at 60fps while you wrote 90hz (which is correct for GoP)

                                      Love it!

144hz? Same as a gaming pc monitor.

The phone looks hardcore. It sends a clear message...

The message: "You have no chance against me".
