Only Gamers understand why those mechanical buttons attached again on this gaming Phone.Advantage using multi fingers on the capacitive screen but you cant handle your phone properly specially on fps which is more advantage using your 4 fingers controlling the game specially on FPS games.others buy clickers but on this need not anymore..

Manufacturers replaced physical buttons with capacitive buttons, again physical buttons are appearing again. Kind of reinventing the wheel

Anonymous, 29 Feb 2020Phone companies should make two version of their gaming pho... morelol, if they also offer other version with understated/casual looks, its not differ from other mainstream flagship phones which has a lot of competitor already. Thats why gaming phone mostly come with "gamer looks" to make it standing in the crowd to distinguish itself from other phones, and it was targeted for specific audience. Plus, if one company comes with two entirely different design version, its not just costly more to manufacture, but also there's a high risk where the product itself cannibalizing the other one which is no good. The best way isn't to make another entirely different design version, but only different in skin/color options like nubia

Thermal throttling is unlikely unless you play extremely demanding games (ex. Shadowgun Legends at Ultra 120fps) and the active cooling comes into play. If you understand what I mean.

Thermal Throttling will be a big issue, considering the processing power especially for a gaming phone, hope the give it a really good passive cooling system but i prefer an active cooling like nubia magic 3

abigfanoftechs, 28 Feb 2020Sony XPERIA Play was well ahead of its time. Too bad the Xperia Play is severely underpowered when it first released.

Abhi-Darth-Plagueis, 29 Feb 2020Fully agreed. I was thinking, if mobile GPUs are this power... moreI agree with this as they are for example way more powerful than switch and would be the pro equivalent we all want...smh where are u sony when we need u for another handheld...but yeah main problem are the games smh if devs would bring them to android and more makers would make sizeable devices for the specs to flourish with none touch controllers wed have a way more amazing handheld gaming division...instead seems like they want streaming to fill that void instead specs making it possible

Nice but still main issue will still remain using touchscreen for dpad so yeah would still need a proper controller attachment

Anonymous, 29 Feb 2020Phone companies should make two version of their gaming pho... moreWhy are you buying a gaming phone when you do not like its gaming looks?

You have 698647534538843584354354 same same looking devices to choose from.

Anonymous, 29 Feb 2020Phone companies should make two version of their gaming pho... moreJust put a skin on it pal to make it look less gamer inspired.

Yyyy, 28 Feb 2020All these gaming phones are pointless to me because mobile ... moreFully agreed. I was thinking, if mobile GPUs are this powerful today, maybe mainstream game studios should port their older games (PC/Console) to Android. I mean more than the paltry numbers as of now. They've already made money on those titles, why not make some more? Besides they've got money. They can force the lndie developers to play by their rules. One time payment, doesn't matter if it's rather large. And retro/nostalgia most of the time works.

These microtransaction littered, paywall fortified games are what keeps most serious gamers - read repeat customers, out of the mobile gaming.

Coming to the news in question, mechanical triggers are a solid step in right direction, but I'm worried about the low click endurance, it's the lowest I've ever read in any gaming device. Magnetic charging solution is also good news.

Modularity is also a good thing. In recent years it's been shown again and again that it's possible. Of course I only dream of samsung releasing it's gaming phone, with different custom AMD RDNA graphics 'modules'. Interchangeable USB C ones. Maybe 512 - 768 cores with integrated GDDR5/6 RAM. Certainly seems possible, what with Intel opening Thunderbolt standard to third parties. That way casual gamers would be fine with onboard graphics, serious ones could enjoy more 3D muscle on command.

As an aside, manufacturers can accommodate 22 mm triggers and a modular magnatic charging solution, but not a 3.5 mm jack. What hypocrites.

Phone companies should make two version of their gaming phones. One with all the dumb trinkets and styling like RGB or whatever some try hard gamer kids prefer and another with an understated look for the more casual ones. Offer same features, just different looks.

Look closely at the screen image showin... moreWon't appeal to non-gamers anyway, honestly, I am rather looking forward to the Mi 10 Pro and Oppo Find X2 Pro. I don't play that much mobile games or very competitvely (although I have played a multitude of mobile games myself).

Seems like a great feature, why not make those parts touch sensitive wouldn't that be more practical.

Anonymous, 28 Feb 2020All of these but never has a software update even once lolYes these HW Specs look good but no one apart from Asus had nailed the gaming phone.
It's coz they got their software and ecosystem right.

Sony XPERIA Play was well ahead of its time.
