Everyone go notches when they see Apple do it. Not Essential.
Android wear, everyone goes circles.. and failed to pick up, even Motorola 360 failed to even touch Apple watch's sales. So now everyone is copy the square look.

When you follow the famous trend starter, you become a copier. No one other then wiki or history will record the first occurrence. People will only remember the famous.

Also, Sony smartwatch was on the market before first Apple watch. Just saying, also goes for notch, first phone was Essential with (teardrop) notch, not iPhone in 2017.

      AnonD-844967, 03 Mar 2020Not similar but inspiredby apple watchthe main difference of both design is Oppo's doesn't have crown, usually I don't impressed by Oppo products, but I kinda agree that just because it doesn't have crown and use curved screen made it unlike Apple Watch and it looks more elegant.

                Until we get 7-8. Watch chipsets from Qualcomm, every Android Wear watch is pretty much dead in the water.

                    The problem with Android smart watches is the lack of a good processor like the S series chips in Apple watches. Qualcomm chips sucks in comparison and any Android watches using those processors will suck too.
