Gingerbread is not the King by choice. Lot of people are keen to move to ICS, and mobile instruments too are capable of supporting ICS. But the mobile companies wont release the upgrade.
It is unfortunate that Motorola Mobility, the company now owned by Google is one of the slowest in providing upgrades to 4.0. There is no poiont in Google working on 5 if it cannot force upgrade policy.

[deleted post]most stock roms really sucks.. that's why on android you can root, install custom roms and kernels depending on what you want or what you need..and because of that customization, you can even had an android phone that is half the price of iphone but has a better performance..

Wait till Windows Phone 8 comes out with hi def screen and multi core processor like Android, but running on a smoother and more stable WP OS with Windows 8 integration where everyone could update to latest software. It would kill Android fast.

Raffa, 02 May 2012I'd love to be able to DOWNGRADE back to Gingerbread, ICS (... morethat ram you see is just mere numbers. its enough ram for everyday use. it wont affect any performance, you can never make android ram into 0 it will kill some apps if it lacks ram.

bummy, 02 May 2012there's not even 80% currently on 2.2-2.3 How can there be... moreMaybe because many do as I and downgrade back to Gingerbread because ICS totally sucks! Official 4.0.3, lpq, using Kies on my S2 totally sucks, even after a complete "factory reset"... and only installing apps from Google Play! Many apps and games, Real Racing 2 is one of many games, are still incompatible with ICS! The hardware fragmentation is the big problem for Android, ICS can simply not handle all these different hardwares!

Raffa, 02 May 2012I'd love to be able to DOWNGRADE back to Gingerbread, ICS (... moreYou can jump into xda developers you can find something there, they should support Samsung, I just got my 2nd phone Xperia x10i flashtool and then rooted it now it runs 2.3.4 and runs perfect without all that bloatware with the offical roms!
As for people complaining about ICS being unstable and eating memory, I recommend if you want switch to Xperia, why? because Sony's roms are stripped bar almost and then when you install you can choose what you want on first install hence making up more room for RAM. Of course Sony did their homework on previous versions of Android and learnt that bloatware really isnt necessary. Touchwiz, Sense etc are big memory hungry skins and really they should try and make their os's closer to vanilla, thats why there is delays with the updates.

I moved to iPhone 4S then to Lumia 900 from Galaxy S2, G2X and other low end android phones and never look back. It's not just fragmentation of Android but also the freezing and force closes that don't give you a good experience. Google needs to make a new OS.

[deleted post]No need to use this language young man!
ICS needs too much effort to ported to I9000.
And about 3 months my friend was going to buy I9000 and i was with him we went to all stores and they told us the phone is disconnected so there is no need for updating it anymore.
But still you can update it to ICS by custom roms like Miui And nightly "CM9" and AOKP and the best is ICS Slim and all these roms can be find in XDA forum

AnonD-8044, 02 May 2012Why is ICS so difficult to implement ?Simple requires more RAM, better proc. speed and the list is endless, in fact you need a new phone or run smooth (if that word even exist on ICS)
