Its clear that Xiaomi is now so big a company that they no longer have to provide the best value any longer.
Look at have much value Note 8 Pro and Mi 9T added to the customers.. and they are now a year old.

G70 on redmi note 9? Thats asking a big wave of critics and shaming on every youtube videos and articles. Redmi note 9 direct competitor : realme 6 uses G90T, while they use G70 on their lowest entry level. G70 should be on redmi 9 and 9a, not the note series

But Mi A3 is a very expensive SD665...249.90€ in my country for 4/64
For a SD665, HD screen...
Redmi Note 8 Pro cost the same with Fullhd HDR, far better G90T, NFC...and of course UFS too...
I can't imagine buying a G70/SD665 for more than 200€ in country...

Dimensity 1000 is around SD855+'s power with built-in 5g...and with some features SD865 hasn't (AV1 decoding, HDR video recording...but true 865 has some others)

12nm from TSMC isn't bad...
8nm on SD720/730 comes from Samsung...Qualcomm doesn't want it for his 855 and go back to TSMC's 7nm
8nm is a name for a very slightly improved 10nm and isn't close to TSMC's 7nm...
If you remember, Apple A9 was using both process : 14nm Samsung and 16nm from TSMC...
If you read nm, Samsung should be better...but for real, TSMC was better...specialy on CPU stress tests.
Some articles said it, some other said the opposite...but the result : after that, all Apple's soc were built by TSMC.
Yes 8nm is probably better than 12nm but not as much as process naming try to say

No one is saying that all the midrange chipsets from MediaTek like G70, G90, and G90T are based on 12nm process.
Where in comparison SD 720G and SD 730/730G are based on 8nm process. And 665 is based on 11nm process.
8nm is better than 12nm anyday for better BATTERY LIFE, SUSTAINED PERFORMANCE FOR LONGER PERIOD, device gets FAR LESS HOT when used for longer period of time.
AND REMEMBER Summer is just around the corner.

Redmi Note 9 series will likely have more than two members. The real STAR of this Redmi Note 9 series is a Dimensity 800 based unit which will not be released until 2Q. (Just forget about the G70 and SD720G based units. All non-D800 based units in this series are just there to play out their intended bridesmaid role. )

zizo, 11 Mar 2020realme 6 has mediatek g90t .. I think realme winsFor Realme, the MOST serious threat in 'cheap but powerful' mid-range is phone with Mediatek Helio G90T, and the ONLY known brand which uses this SoC till date is Redmi (by extension, Xiaomi) for their Note 8 Pro.
Just look at their specs sheet. They are so similar, it is scary.

SD7xx series meant to be the 'premium mid-range', while SD6xx are positioned to be 'regular mid-range'.
What is the technical difference between SD6xx & SD7xx?
SD7xx is an SoC which specialized in 'AI', which means, this series equipped with the same NPU present in SD8xx series.
While SD6xx only concerns with what most people sought in mid-range SoC; decent CPU with decent GPU which could play most popular game on market.
In short, if u are talking about CPU, then yes, SD675 will yield better scores as it is equipped with 2cores A76, but weak GPU (it has similar performance to SD665, which is the 'refresh' of SD660, with 'new' but weaker GPU).
On the other hand, if what u want is decent GPU (for gaming) & AI is your thing, then SD7xx is the way to go.
They DO NOT OFFER BETTER MULTI-CORE PERFORMANCE, as the difference in scores are from the HIGHER clock speed (SD710 2x A75 @2.2GHz vs. SD675 2x A76 @2GHz).
Also, as of now, NO SD7xx ARE EQUIPPED WITH 4 powerful cores; even the 'most' powerful SD765 series are equipped with 1x A76 + 1x A76 + 6x A55 (yeah, weird as it might be, as Mediatek has already used this Tri-clusters architecture in 2015 for their Helio X20 series & X30, and 'considered' failed by many).

I was really expecting the redmi note 9 pro to have either the dimensity 800 or 1000. If the rumours are confirmed it will be a great opportunity to buy the redmi note 8 pro discounted.
