Not everyone is looking for a flagship model phone over £1000, some people just like having FaceTime and can link their iTunes to their phones

Make the Apple logo the home button too. That way, we can have a maximized screen on the front but still have a home button and FPS.

The reason it's rubbish is because the design is both too recycled and traditional.
SE did sell well because it got the 3.5mm jack and compact size (which people tends to consider that time). Now the jack and compact size are not really important these days. Even budget Androids (even a realme C2 or Redmi 8A) has unexpectedly large sizes. Button clicks are not even present in such smartphones. Now people tend to go for minimum bezels (what is meant, full-screen like, minimum iPhone XR/11 and LCD Androids). The trend has shifted somehow. Guess why phone these days have very different design language.
Only bargain is the A13 chipset, which I don't even find an iPhone 6s comfortable for gaming due to the small screen. But you can expect fast system performance, at least.
If you want a proper iPhone, consider at least an iPhone XR and 11. Refurbs are OK if it comes from an official Apple store and has been deemed reasonable. Otherwise look elsewhere. If ios ecoystem is a must; sorry about that.

But at the same time want software that is going to work well and get updates. The iPhone SE sold very well so i can imagine this doing the same. You can have the best hardware ever and the greatest specs but if you software does not work well what is the point. Not saying that Apple is always perfect in software but it runs a lot better than most cheap android handset and is likely to be updated for at least 4 years you will be lucky to get that even if you paid out for the fully spec Samsung S20 ultra

And it will only cost 400. Not 800 or 1500.

The se is the best thing apple ever created. And one of their very few devices even close to worthy of the price.
The se 2 will be a fantastic seller for all walks of people just for form factor and affordability.

Maybe 5.5 inches can still increase screen size, or even the 4 incher.
Same dimension have its benefits.. easy to make, easy to get accessories, same case same screen protector. etc etc.

Maybe it will have both FPS and Face ID ?
I don't know why peoples assume that there should be only one of the two...
Having both a FPS and a facial recognition is actually nice, and if both can be used as the same time it could exponentially increase the security, for sensitive apps like bank related and such it could be great to have a two factor authentification using both face and fingerprint.
Through I talk mainly about Android as I don't know how FaceID or TouchID really work or is handled in apps.

FP reader is perfectly fine just please for the sake of sanity do NOT put an on screen FPS. Those are truly a step backwards for the sake of looking cool. Not reading my finger on my Note 10+ is a constant pain in the A.

Hopefully the design will change a bit from the iPhone8. The home button is fine but they should be able to increase the screen size at least a bit to get rid of the large top bezel. Additionally, that would enable a more modern aspect ratio, like 18:9 instead of 16:9.
