Guys, if you want wired usb dongles, what happens when you want to connect a battery pack or other device at the same time? You really need two or more USB ports.
It is a pity USB is not just a 1.5mm optical socket with power. Apple is going drop the lightening connector, what are they going use instead for external high speed transfer?

Love the Community, 15 Mar 2020Only when the fat audiophile gods say that it's time to swi... moreOh, sorry I forgot to mention that I do actually have a pair of rather nice Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones, however I like to leave them at home, due to the the fact that they are bulky and there are too many thieving scumbags who'll try to steal them out of your bag on LU or train.
Also I don't like wearing them in the street as you can't hear any potential hazards like cars, buses etc. Or if you're on a platform the train approaching, station announcements.

I dont know how anyone can even get behind the removal of 3.5mm jack. You can use wireless headphones on smartphones that have the audio jack as well th y'all talkin about? Why force people into buying subpar things. $50 sony headphones are at least 3 times better than the $150 truewireless ones when it comes to soundquality and bass levels

Hi. Microphone input is very important not only for calls, but also for microphone input in recordings. This made Apples very popular with musicians, but also useful for reporters and video recording. However, in video recording you need dual channels for monitoring and multiple channel microphone, for narrator and surround mics. That's quality. So, we are talking about several channels on a plug, which is doable, and needed to be called "quality" instead of "shady"
Channels can also be swapped between headphone and microphone, but a channel can also be used for simple video out. It is a shame that companies can't make a simple encoded 4:2:0 video surround sound line out of USB, and with microphone inputs, and up and charging passthrough capability, that would solve everything, especially if they can isolate out charging and IO interference problems. This means simple isolation techniques. An optical line standard could be implemented inside the central plug, as proposed for USB previously. In this, a DAC/ADC can be established in the equipment, so your quality level is determined by the ear phones and microphones you use. A simple breakout plug connects to TV via composite stereo or HDMI, with minimal complexity and cost. If all TV's support the same USB standard, then 8k 240fps 16 bit 3D can easily be supported over the optical core in future.
But let's go one step further. These companies desperately want to get rid of all external interfaces, to our detriment. Wifi direct was stuffed up and many other wireless interfaces are clunky, not secure enough, slow and suffer interference. They have wireless charging. I have long thought about ways to redesign the experience. I was going to suggest to google, an flat water proof optical interface array, but you get problems with damage from scratching, though it is good in place of the USB. But, magnetic induction IO array is robust and phones can be water proof to great depth.

Companies are removing it because wireless gear are more expensive. Then they make more money.
It has nothing to do with "more space for battery" or "higher level of waterproofing" .These are favorite excuses given by companies.

This is the 21st c... moreOnly when the fat audiophile gods say that it's time to switch to wireless. Earbuds? What are you, weak? Over ears is the way to go. Wish that the leather cups are sweat resistant so I can exercise with the over ears.
Gross! USB-C Adapter dongles. I don't want those floppy wires on my headphone to phone. I rather use not a dongle wire but a solid cool looking block of plastic that houses the chips and connectors with less copper wiring inside.
Although I'm ready to switch to no headphone jack if Drop x THX made the better version of the Panda Over Ear headphones. As per LinusTechTips, it's the only wireless headphone that can sound just as good as one of the best $190 - $300 headphones.

This is the 21st century, time to move on, not stay in the Victorian era. I have a USB C adapter so I can use earphones should I need to, but with earbuds being good enough I don't think I'll be using it much.

I would accept USB-C headphones if phones have two USB-Cs like my Asus ROG Phone 2. I just want the ability to charge through Powerbanks and sockets, and listen with my headphones at the same time. I may soon can't help it but to flex these people for this Chad level move.

I have USB C headphones with DAC and never missed the headphone jack.
I'm trying to give up on the wired ones altogether, because I often almost smash my phone due to the wires, and I really hate having a cracked phone.

I would keep resisting any phone that doesn't come with the headphone jack and so far I haven't face any big issues. That's where I learned the fact : Options and customization is what android is all about and nobody can force you to do anything you don't like.

So there really is Active Noise Cancellation on wired headphones by having a third ring on the jack and port (Sony first and invented). I wish other companies mandated such things. Sad that 3.5mm jack is gone on mainstream brands so long live underground brands like LG and Asus. Can't they just bring back 2.5mm jack if they want a smaller profile phone (said no one ever in 2020)? If they did bring it back, they can earn alot of money through 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapters. I rather die than to use dongles!

See, I am a man of simple taste. I see the jack missing on a phone.. I refuse to buy that phone..
