04 May, 2012
The remaining 1 percent was nabbed by HTC. Everybody else reported a loss in the first quarter.

really?? Sony Ericsson was that low? too sad... well partly their fault too... late android phone manufacturing and poor initial hardware(in particular internal memory, rest was fine)
I wish Sony do turn arnd little good market after they launched Xperia 2012 line up :)

The competetion is between one revolutionary device of APPLE and all other junk boxes in the market including thousands of Samsung mobiles....Imagine if there would have been thousands of APPLE brand phones in the market where will Samsung and company will head towards...lol

Stephen Elop is the worst thing to happen to Nokia just like Steve Ballmer is the worst for Microsoft. Guess where Stephen Elop came from. Microsoft. Stephan Elop and the fanboy that he is has permanently tied Nokia to them, giving them no flexiblity. Sad to see them fall under poor judgement.

Marketing and having a strong brand sells phones.

That is not a good thing as many good phones get poor sales. It also effects the future phones you get offered. There is a trend that companies manufacturing Android devices are going for very large screens and so not competing directly with the iPhone
Apple the strongest brand on the market and advertising money to burn. The money and effort Apple have put into product placement is insane. Can you believe the number of banks etc that offered iPhone apps before that of any other OS. The amount of media organisations presenting information using iOS type interfaces. Schools and other organisations asking students to have an iPad.

It's all insane if not outright dodgy.
Most of modern marketing is about selling you an option that was not your optimal choice or that you didn't need at all. If it were otherwise then advertising would tell us the facts rather than building an image or impression.

Samsung are the next thing to Apple when it comes to that sort of infiltration.

I sure hope we keep most of these manufacturers. A mobile world with just Apple and Samsung would halt a lot of progress (as it already has) and will give us less choice.

Only Apple and Nokia fanboys win. People who voluntarily gave up their brains to actively and persistently try to influence others to follow their phone preferences regardless of differing customer needs and regardless of the fact that they themselves already gave up their brain and so are incapable of correctly evaluating any future devices and technology changes.

AnonD-18435, 05 May 2012of course. Apple know that they have tons of brainless fans... moreThey are good at bringing technology to people with really poor technical knowledge though. That is what Apple have always done.
Sad that they are holding up progress for many of us. I mostly blame dumb patient law for most of that though.

of course. Apple know that they have tons of brainless fans that will buy all the crap they come with even if it's the same exact thing but with a higher price. Apple is over priced, just for fashion. People than really understand features vs price will never trash their money on iphone. It is a scam.

AnonD-44163, 04 May 2012nokia wont over-spec a device inorder to make it sell like ... moreThat has to be the reason why Nokia earnings has been on the decline, to this day, negative profits. Maybe overspec is the reason to profitability? At least overspec stuffs are more future proof. Nothing wrong going overspec, customers perceive it as added value.

Apple sucks big time and it's fans too bcoz they pay 10 to 15k extra for a normal smartphone like 4s and make Copycats like apple the maximum profit making company. The bluetooth of iphone 4s is not supported with maximum of car stereo systems . It's like burning the money on 4s and being able to use it on my porshe stereo system. I made a mistake once and would never make it again. Never buy a stupid apple product

him, 05 May 2012Things look VERY bad for Nokia... 5-10 years ago we used... moreOh really. I don't think they're dead yet, though I'm not sure how long they'll last.

There are people (me included) buy phones as a tool, not as a toy. I was waiting for the SGS3 to see what it has to offer but alas, booooriiiiinngg.... Yet another phone that tries to shove new technology/gimmics/specs down my throat.

I'm using an N8 now, and I want an UPGRADE. I'm not willing to sacrifice features that I need just so I can have the latest and greatest, because it doesn't mean it's the best for me.
