Kuo: Next-gen flagship iPhone to feature sensor-shift image stabilization

23 March 2020
The feature will be exclusive to the larger Max variant.

It won't matter since they'll again use sh*tty 12 MP sensors and their ultra wide angle lens will be just as low-res and sh*tty as on the 11 Pro.

Apple needs to seriously up their camera game or they will be dead in the water. Both Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi and Find X2 Pro has much better image quality and better cameras than iPhone.

I like how Appe is willing to push AR, android OEMs should join in too cause ToF for protrait only is a waste

That's pretty OP but they should focus on other things rn. If they would use a 4500 mah battery Apple would kill everything. They can withstand in a comparison of an Android phone with 4500 mah with only 3100 mah or so. Just think about an iPhone with 12 GB of RAM and 4500-5000 mah battery. That would kill any other phone out there. They should still need an under-screen fingerprint but still.

If my memory serves right, there is no use of providing panel capable of 120hz and above and locking it down to 60hz.

Sony, LG and others really missed out in 2020.
In 2021, any 60hz flagship phone will feel outdated.

If Apple can Pull this off without the sensor suffering from overheating, then they'll have huge success in this implementation. It's either a win or a huge flop.

.. Why only Max model? Surely it shouldn't take up that much space inside the phone casing.

Flgshp2020, 23 Mar 2020Even iPhone giving 120hz in 2020. Sony, LG, Xiaomi need to ... moreDunno about others, but Sony is using software-based Motion Blur reduction to achieve a smooth refresh rate (possibly 90Hz) without really having a natively high refresh rate.

Given their track record of excellent Bravia TVs with the best-in-class motion smoothing (a.k.a. MotionFlow), I'm pretty damn sure they can deliver the same level of quality for their smartphones, especially on their flagship phones.
If memory serves right, ever since the Xperia X, Sony has always used 120Hz displays for most of their smartphones. Even the mid range XA series did use 120Hz panels, hence the hidden option for 120Hz on the XZ Premium.
Even last year's Xperia 1 did use 120Hz panel, which is why in gaming, the phone went beyond 60Hz (noticed by users that the frame rate is much higher than native 60fps) when the content is available.
Perhaps this is a better solution to smartly switch refresh rate automatically when the phone isn't really requiring that much smoothness, and it is great for saving a lot of power.
Now I know Apple's ProMotion displays are great, I wish they'd offer it as well in QHD+ resolution because definitely it's going to be priced wayy above $1200, so why not have it all, at least?

To put a 1" sensor on a phone, either the lens would have to be very wide and with a narrow aperture or the phone would be huge.
