I will use Huawei Mobile Services in my next phone. If developers wont join HMS, it will be their loss, because i will use only existing apps.

Anonymous, 28 Mar 2020Wow. It's just amazing. I also have watched a sort of docum... moreYes, no one accepts money because
1) money may be stolen
2) money may be counterfeit
3) paying the exact amount takes seconds
4) you may be robbed if you carry too much money
Anyway, I'm just buying a fingerprint lock for my door and I just realised that there's a wechat app for that to do access control, register fingerprints, issue remote passwords to other friends/family members, remote lock/unlock, proximity unlocking of the door. WHO NEEDS AN APP STORE in China?!?
I really stand by my comment that app stores and "mobile services" are purely gimmicks for the westerners who can't get around to more advance technologies and prefer to stay tethered to a "big brother".

I also have watched a sort of documentary in mainland China that about technology especially for smartphones. I was surprised that people in there are no long bringing wallets because their phone has everything on it. They can pay thru WeChat or Alipay. Basically everything is on their smartphones now.

mooox, 28 Mar 2020Obviously you know nothing about China.
1) Most of the peo... moreExample of superapp - Wechat. It is:
Chatting
Gaming
Banking - All banks
Uber equivalent (Uber left china because they could not compete with them)
Food delivery
Online shopping for groceries
Dominant e-wallet with over 900 million users
Money Transfer
Restaurant booking
Group buys
Utility bills
Transport NFC
Health tracker
Realtime location based Discount vouchers
Matchmaking
Topping up of Sim Cards
Shop Loyalty Cards
Job seeking/hiring
the list goes on. I probably listed only about half the things on Wechat. I've not tried more than 30% of the capabilities.
Nevermind that Wechat is now also an "OS" such that any person/shop can make their own mini apps (FOC). Best of all, the phone won't feel "slower".
Basically, if you're a business out to do business, you MUST accept wechat pay. If you're a real bank, you WILL have banking apps on wechat. If you're a Cinema, you WILL have allow booking on wechat. If you're a respectable retail chain, you should have a loyalty card on Wechat. If you're a news agency, you WILL be publishing news and articles on Wechat etc. You get the picture.
This is just 1 example of a super app. There are others.

Anonymous, 26 Mar 2020China's population is about 1.4 billion.
Im pretty sure mo... moreObviously you know nothing about China.
1) Most of the people are on super apps, and superapps don't depend on app stores. If you don't know what's a superapp, that's how backward you are.
2) No one in China relies on an App store. It's free for all there. Most app developers encourage people to download directly from their sites. The apps also do auto-updates to bypass app stores.
The only ones I can think of that would use a dedicated app store is.. uh... the non-chinese. Or an Apple user in China.

Lol. 3x more developers than users.
Xi and The Party ordered every Chinese developer to work on it? And will pay some in the poorer countries to support them too.

[deleted post]Well, in China you can find dozens of AppStores and all of them provide great variety apps and some of them are even better than the ones in the play store. While outside of China, people only have the choice of google with its shitty apps, and people think they are living in the free world. Tragic!
