Weekly poll: the Nokia 8.3 5G marks many firsts for HMD, but is the price too ambitious?

05 April 2020
The 8.3 is the first Nokia with 5G connectivity and also the first with a 64MP camera. But €600 sounds a bit steep.

the screen is too big for me, i would prefer something that brings it under 155mm, it does have a 3.5mm jack and everything else i would want so yes it's good except the price.

AnonD-833125, 05 Apr 2020With the current situation of Android phones, there aren't ... moreI feel the same way. Can't really buy another Samsung in Europe as long as they pull the Exynos scam. We need a phone the size of a Galaxy S8, S9 or S10e with a 4000mAh battery as well.

Samsung S8+ Owner, 05 Apr 2020it's pathetic that they stick with Prehistoric LCD screens.... moreA lot of us still prefer LCD screens.

With the current situation of Android phones, there aren't any serious options out there.
Samsung big differences between Exynos and SD processors (at least in Europe where I live, only Exynos versions can be found). Also, joke software updates.
Huawei/Honor lack of Google services. Which for me is very important. All my apps are Google apps. Even when I had an iphone, I still used Google apps when possible.
One Plus phones coming in minimum 6.4" sizes. No compact phones anymore from them.
Pixel phones expensive and terrible batteries. At least the new 4 series. 3a series are ok, but still expensive for what they deliver. Also, only single sim.
LG phones lack innovation year after year. Just some small things in audio quality, like somebody cares. Also software updates even worse than Samsung's.
Sony phones relying on their name and..that is about it. Only their blind fan base keep them alive in the mobile world.
And now Nokia phones (or more clearly HMD phones). Is like that little kid who runs towards the sea which such enthusiasm, but when he puts his little finger in the water and feels is cold, starts running and crying back to his mummy.

Cause why they didn't included telephoto camera? Even with the 2x zoom? Why Nokia, why???

5G support is good , but only a few can actually aprecciate it as it's just not there yet in most countries and for most people.

And for $600 I would like at least 128GB of storage. Maybe even UFS 3.0 ?

I voted for the last option. It costs 600€.
It is good for 400€. And it is just a 5g phone. Nothing else. Better get a flagship 5g phone instead.
It doesn't have the SD8xx series chipset. Camera setup is also unimpressive. No OIS. Crappy 2mp depth & 2mp macro. It is there just to brag about the number of cameras as per today's trend. Phones with better OLED display can be expected at that price. Come on of anyone tell you that it's got Zeiss camera lens then just ignore him he is a Nokia fanboy. Ask him what's the use when it performs very badly compared to phones without it.
And don't fall for stock Android $h!t. At least with other brands phone you get UI update now & then. But worth stock Android 2 years update that's it. Over.

They haven't acomplished their roadmap of updates. Every month they get more a more delays.

This phone comes at the prices of other flagships being a mid-range phone without telephoto camera, without even a single camera with OIS, the typical cheap 2Mp macro and depth sensors... The base model comes with too small storage being really expensive for what it offers. HMD is not going to fool people with the excuse of more 5G bands and the rented Nokia brand. Their actual low sales clearly shows that people is not that stupid, the initial novelty of coaxing people with the brand has already gone down in history

Not worth consider it. Cut the price in half or even less and then maybe, only maybe, some people will consider buy it, although even at half price i'll choose other phones.

Except for the 3.5mm jack, there's absolutely nothing to like about this phone.

I wouldn't agree that Nokia's update record is unrivalled. Updates have been slowing down a lot and it's taken a very long time to get Android 10 to many of its phones.
