Original SE had same SoC as iPhone 6s, same camera as 6s, same amount of RAM, NFC for Apple Pay as well.
So IF and IF Apple goes this route again, new iPhone SE will also carry some specs from iPhone 11.
Not only A13, but large camera sensor, even just the single main one, and let's hope same IP68 rating, Liquid Retina Display, 120Hz touch sensing, faster charging, ax wifi.
And YES, many MANY people still prefer the small, compact phone.

Tell me ANY phone from the last 6 months that is below 140mm tall and has comparable specs.

No headphone jack -> airpods
Slow charging is good for battery life.
Iphone 11 has also a small battery, but with a new chipset and good optimization, it's battery life is very good.

A 4.7 inch screen with Face ID instead of the Touch ID would've been a better idea. The phone would be even more compact and also better looking. They can make it slightly thicker to add more battery but overall it would've been a much better design IMO

Where Apple has changed of its strategy in last year. iPhone 10 and 11 series display is 6inc above. No need to release 4.7 inch phone. Apple can follow the iPhone XR size and sale volume, which price is 420 Dollars now.

Apple have so so mastered the art of fooling people that they are using the leftover housing of iPhone 7/8, centered the Apple logo on the back, changed few internals and bang here's your new iPhone. ;)
