The Xiaomi Haylou Solar smartwatch is not solar-powered, but offers a lot of bang for your buck

06 April 2020
Heylou is a Xiaomi partner. This watch runs a proprietary OS and promises 15 days of battery life with 24-hour heart rate tracking (twice that without).

Regret buying it, but then its cheap. Poor display and ugly watch faces with no way to change or customise them. Very basic and limited function, might as well buy a 2-dollar plastic watch to tell time.

I've just bought this Haylou solar , I wear it with full charge today at 8am, it's battery dropped to 10% by 1pm today with heart rate monitoring & bluetooth on. Within just half day already used up 90% of the battery. Is this even normal? I suspect it's due to manufacturer defect? Anyone care to help comment on this? Tq

Why would you say it's not going to be successful? I've had this watch for weeks and it's superb. Beats my 500 quid m9bvoi

I dont think it is going to be successful.

Who knows any international merchant shop selling this that ships it globally?

Very disappointed it is not named after me.

Code016, 06 Apr 2020Sure but people who need 5ATM capable watch won't buy a $20... moreThough apparently this guy wont be that far from mi band 4 in terms of activity, mi band 4 has 5atm proofing

this one made me laugh, 'Solar' having no solar connection. I mean its not like they actually have real app-market enabled smartwatch processor doing too much heavy lifting inside. And its not like solar powered fitness tracking hasn't been done before. Casio has G-Shock 'watches' that can do fitness tracking and run on solar power. Maybe its not color LCD. But I bet they're much more rugged than this one. Price becomes an issue though. So I guess there's that.

In any case, We need a proper smartwatch implementation. Not just these countless proprietary different OSs. and unfortunately Qualcomm killed Android Wear.

This is super cheap but super good watch for that price.
On the market there are plenty of much more expensive devices showing up mostly time or date like for example Rolex or Swiss watches or Cartier, Breitling, Audemars Piguet, Vacheron Constantin, Patek Philippe, Tag Heuer, Hublot, Tudor, Seiko and many more.
So at price of 20 theses are pretty awesome

There are tons of "activity" devices to fill those spaces, but no successor to Pebble which was a smartwatch. It did notifications, simple display, apps, and 14 day battery life, someone needs to fill that void and I hope this does just that.

I want a smartwatch that doesn't need to be recharged every 3 to 4 days and doesn't cost $700. If I am going into the ocean, I will bring out my VivoActive3, day to day I want something that just lasts.

People mostly need the cameras. Though I would love some high capacity phone, 128 or 256GB. I download the shows I watch beforehand so......
Also some good processor for me playing minecraft and gta on my phone.

PartTimePhoner, 06 Apr 20205ATM water proofing is 100x better than ip68 water resistance thoOkay, sure. This might be shifting the goalpost, but be honest... do any of you people go free diving? Do any of you still bring your gadgets when scuba diving? What situations warrant anything more than IP68 on a device? I haven't seen any 50+ meter deep swimming pools, and if you do own such a pool or do diving with your watch still on, you're in an extreme minority. The average consumer doesn't need a literal "water proof" device for their every day life. They don't need a 10,000mAh battery, or 10TB of storage or 1TB of memory or the absolute best top-tier processor on their *phone* for crying out loud.

But instead of ... moreAll of the phones and/or smart devices you've ever had that were marketed as being "water proof" were in fact just water resistant. None of them are actually water proof, but a lot of people confuse water resistance with water proofing that now they get upset about it when something isn't "water proof". It's okay.

Basic smartwatch/advanced fitness tracker with a 15+ day battery for a bargain price? Sounds too good. Given its low price and proprietary os it'll probably have the usual specs of no internal storage and 16mb~ ram so everything will be done via b/t.
