If I'm going to spend that much on a phone I'd rather get an S20+ or even an iPhone. People in Europe and China got it good. They can buy phones with nearly the exact same hardware for half the cost while the US gets $800+ flagships.

I do not like what companies are doing lately. Making one version much better than the other, but the cheaper is not that cheaper compared to the main model.

OP8 should be just a smaller version of Pro with 1080p 90Hz screen while keeping the rest equal.

          - smaller screen is cheaper, the 1080p is chepaer than QHD, the 90Hz is cheaper than 120Hz.
          - less battery required to keep same endurance
          - smaller body uses less materials

There is no need to remove IP rating, to use weaker cameras , to put slower ram to make it cheaper than Pro.

steep increase in price. Noooo I would better choose Apple then for big price then Oneplus whit big price.

I just want to know what oneplus executives are exactly smokin.I mean they really don't have any selling point at all at this price. They might have a good software but nothing else honestly (you can't make people buy a phone on basis of 30w warp charging) so why would anyone pick them rather than picking samsung or apple

                CPU costs 160 dollars.
Screen must be about 90 dollars.
Camera system is at least $50.

Anonymous, 08 Apr 2020See it's already begun they're going to lose loyal customer... moreIf i remember correctly, the OnePlus 7 Pro started at $670. So if this leak is correct, then the price in USD would be about at least $260 higher... That's a big price hike indeed.

OnePlus certainly could've done better with their pricing. I doubt many people would pay that much for OnePlus when they can get more "premium" brands for slightly more. At the end of the day, brand value does matter.

I guess only time will tell how this move turns out for OnePlus.

Anonymous, 08 Apr 2020See it's already begun they're going to lose loyal customer... moreTo be a flagship killer you unfortunately have to compromise on something. For me, the most important things on a phone are the display and the camera. I like fast charging too, but I don't care about wireless charging or whether my phone has an IP rating.

If OnePlus made a phone with great cameras, a 120hz display but no IP rating and fast cable charging then the price would be significantly lower IMO, probably enough for me to buy one.

I know the vanilla 8 doesn't have these extra features, but it's screen and camera are the same, if not worse than September's 7T, so therefore there's no point going for the 8 as it's not innovative enough for 2020.

Maybe the 8T will be more impressive.

OP8 is 835 euros and brings to you ddr4x ram, no IP rating, macro camera that nobody will use more than once per year and cant even record 1080p, no gorilla 6 on both sides, much weaker cam setup compared to Pro.

Vanilla oneplus 8 will be bigger flop than one plus 7.
Reason being poor upgrade from previous vanilla and due to corona market pandemic. Surely will affect on sales

Stereo speakers, IP68, Wireless charging, Good camera sensors.

OnePlus 8 Pro is looking good!

OnePlus 8 Pro is priced close to 900 euro for EU market, as expected by many.

So... without expandable memory, you wind up paying more than $1,000 for 256GB. Oof. Better deal than the Oppo Find X2 Pro but this is a 'no' for me. Especially without the headphone jack.

Better drop that Pro prices down below 900 + $1,000 1 + and Pete Lau or you'll be in the same boat and Samsung and not sell hardly any of your product just like the s20. You're going to price yourself right out of the game so to speak just like they have

Nope, sorry, completely priced me out on both fronts.

Vanilla 8 is a worse version of the 7T with the differences being worse cameras and 5g. To charge £720 is dangerously niaive.

The Pro is much more reasonably priced for what it is but I was never going to go for a spec heavy phone anyway.
