As much as Disney wants to price it 65$ in India, they know that not a single soul in India will subscribe to Disney+ for that price. So they've priced it accordingly even if they're making losses. Better make some money than no money at all. Big population will also mitigate losses from low price. It makes sense from business perspective. That's why Netflix failed to gain traction in India because they priced it as same as US. Feared to lose big market, they've finally released India specific base plan after which their subscriber count showed healthy increase.

Charging $20 a year for the service in India proves that they can charge that much in other markets too.

Adding an extra markup of 250% is a joke. I for personally won't pay it. There are plenty of free services offering this level of content for free.

If the product is the same. The price should be too

I use a modded version of YouTube too. Not gonna watch 45 seconds of ads for a 3 minute video

"since yearly subscription in India is no more than $20 for the highest tier.

For comparison, users in Europe will have to shed €60 (about $65), while US subscribers have to pay $70 annually."

This is exactly why I'll stick to "illegal" streams

No way in hell I'm going to pay 70usd a year when others only have to pay 20usd for the exact same product

            That's an increase of 250%!!!
