Anonymous, 12 Apr 2020Better to make a phone without front camera but with hundre... moreExactly, while no camera on the front but a second display on the back is a good idea, many peoples are mad against that for unknown reasons.
But a true no front cam phone is faisable, it would require many sensors on the back, including DoF/ToF and other short range 3D sensor set (which is good as it could also double as 3D facial recognition) and basically with some AI and smart hardware and software, you could simply take a selfie with the back of the phone then the cam app would allow you to resize, reframe and tweak everything you need to basically get a selfy even better than with a display, and for the peoples who do face call, a simple manually retractable mirror on the back allowing you to use one of the main camera as a front camera with really little issues :
Really cheap, easily replaceable, don't really cause anything negative to the phone like water or dust ingress points, don't take internal space, is more than enough for face call, etc...
It would be a simple mix between the Asus Zenfone 6, a selfie stick with a mirror, a case with a manually deploying stand and a lens addon.
It would have a really simple but sturdy part you manually deploy (which could double as a build in stand too), which simply stick against one of the rear camera like an addon lens do, as the Asus Zenfone 6 it will allow a build in way to make the main rear camera having visibility on the front, but it would work more like (but in reverse as it is the camera who have a mirror) a selfie stick with a mirror.
It could be removable and while stored could be just as thin as the camera bump (helping the phone to be more stable on flat surface) and easily replaceable if needed !
But haters will still find non existing issues to complain about and make it unpopular anyway.

zucculentness, 13 Apr 2020I too am in the US, I would reccomend buying from Microcen... moreDidn't realize they sold a lot of phones. The last time I went there I only saw some cheaper phones like BLU ones so that comes as a surprise. They have the Mix 3 for $243.18 right now so that's not bad. Though I saw the Mi Mix 3 5G with the 855 was going for $280 on some website a while ago.

joe nodden, 12 Apr 2020Absolutely agreed. Wish the K30 Pro would come to the US. I too am in the US, I would reccomend buying from Microcenter, as I got a new Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 for only $299. I love the Mi Mix 3, and the display is amazing, and the cameras are great too!

Well, I am not familiar on which smartphone goes on the US market or not, but if you had the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro which was basically the Redmi K20 Pro of outside China, you may have the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro which is supposedly the Occidental version of the K30 Pro (same with Mi 10T and Redmi K30).

Companies have gone mad in copying each... moreExactly, and that's crazy to realize that all phones who have something unique or different attract so much peoples, the OnePlus 7(t) Pro or the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro with the pop up camera had a huge success despite this tech supposedly "bad" or "unpopular".
The sad part is that all the peoples who constantly try to bash anything remotely different from the norm/trend are a huge part of the reason why there isn't more variety...

*Pop up.
*Second display on the back.
*No front camera at all and no second display.
*Underdisplay camera (that I hate and seriously know this won't lead anywhere good).
*Sadly peoples are afraid about the pop up for no reasons (in theory it can wear, add point of failure, allow water in etc, but in reality none of those actually cause real issues) and it is rare because of the reputation ignorant peoples gave it.
*Second display on the back is rare because many peoples don't see the advantages it gave, it could actually also be made compatible with wireless charging and NFC, but it also have really low popularity and is even rarer.
*There are no modern smartphones from known brand and in the mid/high/top/flapship range that have no front camera, while it would solve so many issues, and for a WHILE peoples were doing selfie with camera without any issue at the time where films didn't allow for as many takes as you want, plus many sensors and AI can allow post editing where you could resize, refocus, reframe and a lot of other things within the camera app, but this also have no success.
*And I won't start again bashing the underdisplay camera, I've done it enough, it have so many flaws and so little benefits to the other solutions, funnily and ironically enough, as an inventor I actually have solution that would fix most of the issues of this tech...
