If what I saw was correct those prices are totally wrong the base model Pro on AliExpress is being pre-sold for $800 for the 8GB 128gb version in any color

Article quote, "...make sure you are around when the time comes on Tuesday to get the full official info on the phones, complete with our first-hand impressions."
Yeah right, like I have nothing else better to do on Tuesday than to listen to Pete Lau.
Here, let me ease the burden for you GSMarena, saving you the trouble of preparing a script of your "first-hand impressions":
'OnePlus have finally upped their A-game, having climbed to dizzying heights, and are now finally mingling with the big-timers (such as Samsung and Apple) - on the price front. OnePlus - Never Settle with low prices.'

I think one plus did same mistake xiaomi did with mi 10.
I do not see problem of two variants, one being better. But I think they should not make one much weaker like was done.
Give same cameras, same amount of ram/storage and same type. Just make differences using screens with different sizes, resolutions and frame rates.
Smaller screen needs less battery and smaller body uses less materials.
This is enough to keep both apart. Keep both closer like S20/20+ or Xperia 1/5.

Article quote, "OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro - what to expect...
...While all the leaks have brought a lot of information on the devices they have also resulted in sort of an overload, making it hard to get the full picture."
We got "the full picture" alright - an absolute disgrace, both in price and spec. The OnePlus 8 is essentially the OnePlus 7T with an updated SoC, but with a considerable price hike. Furthermore, there's no IP rating, no wireless charging, no faster RAM in the form of LPDDR5, no updated UFS 3.1. Pete Lau can shove his 'Interstellar Glow' where the sun don't shine - the glow will be illuminating to say the least.
The OnePlus 8 Pro brings the aforementioned features (save the UFS 3.1), but at a price premium that is contrary to the company's mantra of 'Never Settle'. The 12GB/256GB has been price leaked at EUR 1020. This is beggars belief OnePlus can even consider holding its potential buyers ransom. For this sort of money, the Samsung Galaxy 20+ can be had.
OnePlus and Pete Lau have essentially shot themselves in the foot with their pricing arrogance.

nothing and nothing excites me with this series! where is the 3.5 jack? huge phone w/o the 3.5 jack is just a useless design copied from apple. another thing is that ugly notch no matter how they call it = teardrop, waterfall, etc. is another of apple's original ugly design. No way for this model!

Expect an even higher price than before, also introducing a screen even more unmanageable to hold and operate, as it just got bigger
