Anonymous, 09 May 2020Idk if I agree with this. Nokia could be making a comeback ... moreThey "could be" but yours were just based on a rumor. My expectations with HMD were based on their previous releases and hardware of choice. It's either you could hope too high and be disappointed or just expect based on history which were not too positive to begin with.

Well the Penta camera setup were much more interesting.
Imagine 5 or 6 including TOF camera sensors with 108 Mpix.
Or Huawei P40 pro 50 Mpix cameras.

Based on Nokia's previous releases, they're more likely to opt for older hardware. It seems as though they're one of the companies at the bottom of the supply chain while the others on the top has already secured millions of supplies, what HMD have to do now is to make a phone from what's already left. I won't expect too much.

Qwerty2020, 16 Apr 2020Bringing back 808's camera sensor is nigh impossible. Why?... moreIt takes more than just sensor and its size to make a better camera module... For Nokia to have that top par camera, they need to form a dedicated mobile camera R&D division, much like the old Nokia (pre-HMD era) camera division that Huawei takeover.... And look at Huawei now and the amount of praise they get for their camera performance.

Anonymous, 16 Apr 2020This is not a Nokia but a HMD 9.3 PureView.Yes absolutely spot on. Pity people still think the Nokia of old is the same Nokia lurking today.
Blame Steve Ballmer for the annihilation of Nokia.

The concept of a flagship phone is laughable. They are almost always worse than a regular midranger with prices twice as high. In my opinion Nokia should go a very different path. They should make a completely different lineup. The 9 stays for a flagship model, but they are just not competitive. They should make an experimental branch. This will solve lots ot problems. It will not be bound to the time frame of seasonal phone releases, it will establish the brand as ultra innovative, it will make a large portfolio ot patents and all other brands will undoubtedly pay fortunes in royalties. The original Nokia 9 was and is an exquisite phone because of that. It should have been named differently. Other than that Nokia should go with solid midrangers on competitive prices.

Hopefully, HMD Global will have a better design and other specs that would compete other brands like Samsung, One Plus, Huawei and Apple.

Welp, hopefully they won't mess up display calibration this time around.. Nokia 9's display was a complete disaster when it comes to colour accuracy and oversaturated everything.

Nowadays even unknown brands like Oppo and vivo etc can just follow the trends_the edge to edge or infinity display. What is 100MP camera if the display can't contribute to nowadays trends? People are just looking for more from Nokia (and they already forget the old school type bar phone) to "fight" for the market sales. It's just wondering why Nokia was so left behind in technology knowing that they become number one producer of best photography phone before (Nokia 808 etc) why it has forgotten to be it's number one again. It's a long long questions in my mind that until now I don't know the answer. Mobile phones maker nowadays are trendy why Nokia cannot do that?

Nokia the Slayer, 16 Apr 2020Wait for how they screw the things up.. For the 9.2, they w... moreBringing back 808's camera sensor is nigh impossible.
Why? Because its camera sensor is made by Toshiba.
Now, Toshiba doesn't make camera sensors anymore, since they already sold or closed down many divisions they formerly had, including storage (HDD, SSD), computer (laptop, pc), and camera sensors.
The only choice Nokia had for smartphone camera sensors are only three: Sony, Samsung, or OmniVision.
The problem with Sony is that that company improved their camera little by little, and their product price is also high.
The problem with OmniVision is that their products are hardly good; they make decent to crap camera sensors, but their product price is cheap, that's why most 'no-brand' smartphone makers use their product.
So, the ONLY logical choice is Samsung. Although their sensors quality is below than Sony, but their tech in developing smartphone camera sensors is one step ahead of Sony.
That's why they can introduced 108 MP camera sensors, and 9-in-1 nona-bayer tech

Watch as they use an 855 in this trash lol. From this article it seems like it's not gonna be bad but knowing Nokia they'll screw it all up.
And where's the 9.1 and 9.2? Does Nokia not know how to count?

Wait for how they screw the things up.. For the 9.2, they will put a 4000 Mah battery for that 120Hz power hungry OLED display, 5G and SD865 chip. Nokia 7.2 with that 3500 MaH battery is a serious disaster. They put a 4000 Mah battery for the much inferior 2.3 model. I wish instead of going with the Quad bayer fake image processing, they bring the 808 and 1020 Carl Zeiss Pureview camera and image processing based on real sensor output.
