Eh? What's the point of this if Honor 30 also has Kirin 985 and 5X periscope camera with the same price point at 3000 yuan?

I could definitely go without some Google apps but for the most part I can't. If Huawei's App Gallery was on par with Google Play and their phones had full US bands I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

Anonymous, 15 Apr 2020Incredible value if the information is correct. It is for sure in you don't live in the West. The West is reliant on GMS. Love Huawei, love the difference compared to Samsung and what not. They gotta get GMS back! Gonna be 5 years at least before they can rival Google Play store.

I know that's me but I think the audience for this phones ain't some kids that watch TV on their phones under the blankets.

Banking apps found on Huawei store work in EU countries...again,don't care for Google pay when local banking app and Revolut payments work via NFC.

Games that usually charge micro transactions via Google store work without issues on Huawei phones. It's payment that doesn't work on Huawei phones without GMS.

No games that require play services for purchase will work
No Google pay and banking apps.
This is after installing play services and playstore, Since only modded play services can w
              ork with this device.
These are dealbreaking shortcomings for several users.

It has got less apps for sure but its still very usable for most people. There is a decent sized app store but I agree there are lots of omissions. For the more tech savvy people there are plenty of options to side load most apps available on the regular Google Play store aside from some native Google apps.

So a possible deal breaker for sure but far away from useless. The feature set what you get for $425 is incredible. And Huawei is known for making pretty well built phones. I would be loathe to spend $1000 on a Huawei phone when you get some very good flagships from other brands but a 5x optical zoom lens at $450 is incredibly hard to find .

A lot of productivity apps can be substituted with Microsoft's or open source apps, and you can rely on the plethora of free or alternatives on other app stores. Getting solid app updates and task-specific apps like banking will be tough though.

The hardware is definitely impressive for the price but the software is a long ways away from being good enough to recommend the phone to anyone outside China.

Im going to buy one. Another monster midrange phone

When phones like this are available for ~$425, then who in their right mind would buy the ancient looking iPhone SE (2020) with basic specs (aside from that SoC) for the same price.

The Android world is getting some amazing value phones in the $400-$600 price range these days.

Is this would be a rebranded Honor 30?
