HYPR, 22 Apr 2020Lol, someone who totally their mind over nothing. And is un... moreThis is the difference between you and me, I don't care about my own opinion when writing something, I am a cold analyst who can do 100% impartial report of facts, I only say from time to time, when defending a tech I don't like say "even though I don't like this" or when I like something clearly say I do.
My comment are based on FACTS, defend many tech that are worth it that I personally don't like, because many peoples do like them, and I perfectly know that my comment are not well receive for those exact reasons, because I am not afraid to tell the truth in a world where everyone want to act like everyone else and will prefer to defend what is trending over what they like or what is worth defending.

YOU are off the rails, because you argument about something without looking at the truth, which is easy to observe :
MOST peoples HATE the notch and punch hole regardless what the industry do, and this is far from the first time that the industry sell something that is disliked or even hated by peoples, simply because it is trending and cheap.
Lootbox is a PERFECT example of something that peoples hates but which the game industry did so much the authority had to turn it into an illegal thing.
About games, DLCs where you are asked to pay for things which should clearly be in the base game is also another hated thing, yet it is a norm.
Artificial price inflation on smartphone is also a big example, how Intel did basically stagnate when AMD wasn't a rival anymore is also a big one, smartphone becoming bigger and bigger is something many people hate and there isn't any alternatives, yet this is also a norm.

If you really think that because something is trending or have the monopoly it is a good thing, I am sorry for you, but you think exactly like those who were fighting to defend flat earth and geocentric system (which unlike common believe, the church did endorsed, but peoples didn't).

Your opinion still doesn't count nor mean a thing. Madness sharing. You're off the rails, totally lost the plot! Oh look. Nearly every phone has a punch hole camera! Guess I was right. And you was wrong. Still. Bye.

OwnFix3, 21 Apr 2020Did you bought it from AliExpress? It was available on Amazon India sold by Meizu India. Currently out of stock. Came with Google certification and it's play store preinstalled. Almost all Chinese manufacturers have their registered offices and production lines in India. Hence they are easily available at very cheap prices.

RishiGuru, 20 Apr 2020Your opinion is so TRUE. Don't respond to whiners, jerks &a... moreThanks, and I know, I mean, my opinion is that I hate punch hole and notches (except the iPhone Notch which I consider brilliant) and curved display and they are a mistake, but opinion or not, the is a fact that many peoples hate those and they have so many cons they aren't worth it.
I could have ignored him, but at least my answer can benefit other peoples as I answer while giving informations.

And well, sadly they all take the safe and cheap route, peoples were really exited initially about the waterdrop notch, as it was a way less intrusive version, and then peoples were exited about the punch hole because it is way less intrusive than the notch.
But it is still an annoyance, almost everyone will prefer underdisplay camera over notch and hole (not me, I consider underdisplay camera to be a huge mistake)...
But many still prefer bezel or even pop up camera or no selfie camera at all over holes.
Now that the initial excitement for the lesser evil is gone, peoples don't like punch hole, but many prefer it over notch.
Some might say that many prefer the hole over the bezel, well, if they had choice between hole VS bezel VS underdisplay camera, the underdisplay camera would win massively, peoples want fullscreen and the hole is the "best" way for them to get that.
Sadly peoples don't realize that actually pop up camera are way better and could be made way better than they are currently.

But the thing is, punch hole are cheap to make, smartphone compagnies don't really care about customers, OnePlus became a huge example of this, so if something sell well (though it simply sell because there isn't really any other alternatives) and is cheap to produce, even if everyone hate it...It is gonna stay.

If I had money to spend, I'd make a prototype of my magnetic USB and Jack connector, patent it and make some ad for it, it would allow for cheap and portless device able to connect to USB and Jack cables through a little, cheap and universal adapter, I think the industry is already headed this way, but sometime they are so stupid and bad at finding obvious solution that nothing is guarantee.
But one thing is sure, if at least one phone with no physical buttons do use my portless magnetic USB and Jack connectors, everyone will gonna love them, as you have all advantage of portless and port at once :
*100% water resistant as there is no physical entry
*Being portless mean no dirt, dust, sand or other object to get it.
*You can't broke it by bending it as it isn't inside the phone*
*It doesn't wear with time as it only contact and is kept by magnet.
*It doesn't take internal space except for the cable itself.
*It allow 90° versions and other special connector.
*Adapter for all Jack sizes can exist and adapter for USB-C, micro USB and Lightning also exist giving huge compatible possibility for each phones.
And it guarantee that the portless future do allow Jack and USB, which many peoples would really love !
Because so many peoples already hate having no Jack ports, same for USB, but portless is clearly the future, but it doesn't mean portless have to mean no possibility to connect cables !

AnonD-909757, 19 Apr 2020I think you just forgot to take your pills. Poor little th... moreYour opinion is so TRUE. Don't respond to whiners, jerks & haters. The world is full of them and you will get tired by responding them. I have gone through that phase.

The entire smartphone industry relies on playing safe. Apple invents a certain industrial design for their iPhones other manufacturers copies & follow suite. Then as a whole it is considered as a market trend for that year.

Meizu always had a slightly different approach to smartphones but history reveals that being different doesn't always pay off. I remember Meizu's obsession for notch-less, punch hole less smartphones with symmetric layout, and very high screen to body ratio has led them to jointly collaborate with OLED display panel manufacturer Samsung for their Meizu 16th (Meizu 16 in China). Frankly I loved Meizu's design aesthetics and symmetrical design which had their own character.

But it seems they have finally submitted to market trend & here comes a Meizu the punch hole display. Hope Meizu implements it wisely and brings back the audio jack.

HYPR, 19 Apr 2020No one cares for you mindless OPINION. "IMO". Like your imp... moreI think you just forgot to take your pills.
Poor little thing who lost the notion of respect, all you said after being such a disrespectful person worth literally nothing, and I should just ignore you, but as I am, unlike you, respecting other peoples, I'll still answer you, without insult (yes, this is possible, incredible isn't it ?) :

You don't know at all who I am, actually you might be so wrong about me being not important, you have no idea its funny.
The thing is, my opinion is based on facts, I have talked a lot of times about all the negative effects that notchs and punch hole have, and they have way more negative consequences than any positive aspect, they only give an illusion of full display by removing a part of it.
Punch hole would never be acceptable on a TV or a computer monitor, and for good reasons, and here I am talking about big screens where the size of a camera is relatively small enough to be quite discreet, not something that eat up space dedicated for notification and statut icons that Android rely heavy on.
I explained with facts why the notch on iPhones is genius and a really great and practical idea and why on Android it is the stupidest idea along with the punch hole, which is only an adaptation of the notch.

              See it that way :
Apple made the notch, which is great on the iOS ecosystem, Android phone manufacturers copied it, first with the wide notches, only to get the fulldisplay illusion, but they quickly tried to make it as small as possible when they realized that it was actually a poor idea and people hated it.
They then shrink it until it became the waterdrop notch which is the smallest iteration outside of the Essential Phone PH1 which is considered as the first true notch, which didn't got carried by other for good reasons.
They only tried to copy Apple and Apple's notch, not the notch, that's a huge difference, the PH1 had the smallest possible but also an unaesthetic one because of the straight edges, that's why today most take the waterdrop notch approach.
Had Apple choose to make a pop up camera, almost every smartphones nowaday would have one.
Anyway...After implementing the notch on Android, they quickly understood that peoples hated to have a big part of the display removed (yes, the waterdrop notch is still BIG when we talk about an display intrusive thing), so they thought about only leaving the hole of the camera without the rest of the notch cut out, which is how the punch hole got invented :
By trying to get rid of the notch which is undesired because it remove a useful part of the display.
But rather than just forgetting about the idea of removing a part of the display and rather use a bezel or a pop up camera (that peoples hate for totally theoretical arguments which EVIDENCES show it doesn't apply in real life) or any other solution, they kept on the same route despite peoples still hating the idea of loosing a part of the display.
If you buy a phone with even a SINGLE dead pixel, would you just accept it or return it ?
A punch hole is basically a HUGE CHUNK of dead pixels, which always had and will always be undesired.

There is a REALLY important and strong psychological effect which push everyone, including huge compagnies to keep going on a route, even if it is completely the worse possible solution, and try all they can to fix it, rather than move to something else, this is called the Sunk cost :
              https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunk_cost
Things WAY BIGGER and where way more money involved than the whole 2019 smartphone profits (12 billions) already got caught in this (just in case you think this couldn't apply to Smartphone for some reasons), the American Space Shuttle (STS) is a good example of that with almost 200 billions wasted on an engineering marvel but an economic failure project.
The Berlin Brandenburg International Airport in Germany is also a huge example of that where after more than a decade, while the airport was actually needed and over 10 billions € spend (wasted) it is, planned to open this year...Maybe...

The MAJORITY of peoples in EVERY poll I ever saw always answered they don't like punch hole or preferred other solutions, the phone industry just don't care what peoples want, they care what sell, and something does not require to be good, practical, desired to sell well.
If most other company do something, well, they don't want to take risks and do something else, that's how, from copying Apple, they got caught in the loop of the notch to punch hole.
Why does Apple didn't go to the punch hole if it is so good ?
After all they are the initiator of it with their notch and the punch hole is supposedly an evolution of the notch... (Supposedly, because after all things it caused smartphone to loose, we can hardly talk about an evolution).

There are many thing that are undesired and stupid which still became a norm, based on what you said, we should all accept it and say nothing ?
I don't have enough character allowed in comments to explain you all the underlying details and complexity of all those things, but there are FACT making the punch hole the worse idea ever implemented on any mobile device, the reason it became a trend is just a consequences of how stupid, greedy and totally careless of what customers want, capitalism made companies become.
The punch hole is only a false excuse at giving what peoples want, which is certainly not punch hole, what peoples want is full display, which is why there is so much hype around underdisplay camera.

Removing the jack port is a totally stupid idea for many reasons that the vast majority of peoples hate, yet it is also made a norm, soon there will be portless devices, meaning no more USB capability, and that will also become a norm if no one complain about it, yet you are probably not fan of this idea.
What if, in the future, you are complaining about all phone having no USB, and I literally copy past what you told me ?
I bet you'll feel extremely stupid.
Do you future self a favor, and think about the FACT that something many peoples HATE (not just dislike, really hate) but that manufacturers force into over 95% of all devices while to please everyone we need DIVERSITY, is a stupid and really bad situation.

Also one last thing, if my opinion on something isn't worth something, well, your opinion on my opinion also worth nothing, which mean you simply made a self defeating "argument".

The one supposedly photographed in the wild shows uniform bezel thickness (none are super slim, but not thick either; I personally thought it looked awesome).
This render shows a slightly thicker bezel than the rest of the phone, and if render is as such, I would imagine the real phone is only worse :(
I am (was?) hoping for a true competitor to iphone's bottom bezels without the unsightly major notch.

My Meizu 16th (Meizu 16 in China) is still stuck with Android Oreo (8.1) in 2020. However the Flyme OS on my Meizu flagship is very stable & functional and does what is advertised for. There is zero bloatware and the software is very clean and minimal. Moreover spending just $240 on the spanking new 16th (8/126 GB) I am more than satisfied for what I got in return.

Many people don't know about what's the different between every version of Android. About the feature, many manufacturer modify its own UI and adding some feature theyself.

If Google wants to make Android work smooth, they have to change the frame work so Android ecosystem will be restarted from the begining.

Personally I anticipate this phone. Hardware wise is great, looks are amazing but software is a mystery. I haven't owned a Meizu phone before but since the 16th, they have caught my attention. If it is a clean UI like Oneplus' Oxygen OS, then it could be a considerable buy.

Being the owner of a Meizu 16th (Meizu 16 in China) I instantly fell in love with the looks, pure aesthetics, sheer built quality and the attention to detail that went in maintaining the overall symmetrical design of the phone. It was an example of what Meizu design stood for. A pure notchless 6 inch immersive AMOLED display with tiny top and bottom chins. And was the last Meizu flagship to feature the ever so convenient audio jack with superlative quality which is 3 times better than Oneplus 6. The only problem is in software updates, the oneplus running currently on android 10 while the 16th is still on Oreo.
