So I don't see any fanboyism here.
Anyway I think they are both great devices, at least they have stereo speakers and brought back the 3.5 Jack

          NOT stunning at all

LP760, 23 Apr 2020LOL... Xperia is far better than Edge+... It has IP68... moreEdge+ still wins out and it costs less than the Xperia. Bigger battery, better camera hardware, native 90Hz OLED. Sony isn't the saint of the smartphone industry, again, take your fanboy goggles off.

The first picture sample, everything looks flat. Lack of details.

Am I the only who think those photos look quite awful given the sensor size? A lot of sharpening yet soft details in some photos. Well at least these phones come with SD865 so it's a free real estate for GCam port, but still..

The ultrawide isnt that wide, nightmode nothing special, and the dynamic range a bit limited.
Also with Lienove and Motorola's software update policy, or lack of, I would recommend anybody too save their money

DSLR or Mirrorless cameras won't produce such a mess. Heck, even MFT or a legit 1-inch sensor can do better.

Press images always looks good. Will have to wait until an actual review comes out.

Aloof, 23 Apr 2020The Mate 30 Pro does take the most refined photos of all phones.I so agree with this. I compared the Mate 30 Pro's photo quality against the P40 Pro and I am seriously not impressed with the latter at all, even in total manual mode. There's so much iPhone-like oversharpening effect going on in the P40P, something that I didn't see at all with the M30P. Definitely feels like a waste buying the P40P when I got worse photo quality than last year's M30P.

Oh, no. The photos @100% look terribly noisy and distorted...

Xperia is far better than Edge+...
It has IP68 protection,Corning GG6 vs GG5 (seriously flagships should come wigh greatest hardware) sharper display,Better camera hardware,HDR video recording, better DAC,SD slot.
Also Xperia is definately going to get 2 yrs of software update.

I don't see any obvious water painting-like oversharpening effects in both phones, particularly the Edge+, which is a good thing since I can see a lot of that from Xiaomi's Mi 10 Pro 5G and even Huawei's P40 Pro. But I do notice two clear things from all those photo samples: the photos are rather noisy (read: grainy) and the details purity is not sharp and accurate enough.

I remembered GSMArena reviewed the One Zoom and mentioned about the oversampled 8MP resolution option, it changed everything in terms of photo quality - it was miles better than the pixel-binned 12MP. So maybe Motorola can do that same trick with the Edge by providing an oversampled 12MP from the pixel-binned 27MP or 16MP images.
