Samsung video shows the best features of the 108MP ISOCELL HM1 sensor

23 April 2020
The high resolution allows it to capture a great amount of detail and enables zoom without upscaling, Nonacell helps for low-light shots.

The thing is however, for the system to be beneficial in the way I suggest, each square sub-pixel must be capable of filtering only R or G or B light at a moment.
And it should act like a filter for existing light from lens, not a source of light, or a lot of obstruction to light.

If they can find a way to make it possible with good quality, then it can happen.

Although, the sensor itself must be smart enough to push an image in 4in1, 3in1, 2in1, and single pixel mode, through its own circuitry... then it will be applicable to any phone processor.

Samsung has shown it's inability to make a proper software,
so let's bragging about useless sensor hardware.
Moreover, in Exynos models they try to sell Samsung's own shity sensor+processor,
In Snapdragon models they have a proper Sony chip, why is that?

Why the hell would it crop in from the main camera when there's a secondary camera that is far more capable for zooming purpose??

Also Samsung sensors cant get rid of the gap between pixels like exmor imx 686/689 when they merge.

All this is just to boost digital zoom, even without any benefit. The 64MP of S20 at 3x results in 7MP (I read this on a comment on a famous photography website). Result is worse than using a smaller sensor behind a 80mm lenses.

Not counting that Samsung just wanted to throw 8K option too.

I dont like quadbayer sensors, pointless to have 48, 64 or 108 MP of have details of 12MP photo.

20MP 1/1.2" would be much better, by far.

Plus this is first of its kind on a smartphone, with improving Algorithms for the nona Bayer, don't be surprised if image quality improves after a year.

600mp incoming, nothing can change that. any rival though?
