That's so stupid! I don't think they'll kill symbian, with the 808 flagship just announced! They didn't even start to sell that phone, if Nokia stard to sell the 808 with a dead SO, it will be the fail of the year!

LOL!!! Hilarious how everybody INSTANTLY thinks this is Completely Elop's fault without understanding that a team of people made this decision. Seems like Operation Decoy was a success.

NOKIA should NOT USE Android. Android is over-saturated in the market already.

Nokia should've stuck with MeeGo and brought that to it's full potential.

MeeGo on the PureView would've been MAGICAL!!!

I left Symbian about 3 years ago and I'm sad to hear this. Its the end of an era, I still have all the Symbian phones I owned up to the N97 and I might get the pure view just to complete the collection.

Goodbye Symbian its been great knowing you. :-(

that's wrong move for them now no one will buy the 808 besides if we compare the windows mobile to symbian. Symbian still good when it comes to modifying and customizing.

To think that their upcoming flagship, the 808 runs in symbian - a dead OS, makes me wanna cry. I thought they plan to resurrect the symbian when they put it on the 808 but instead they killed it. Nokia should've put windows on 808 instead. What a stupid move. This is just utterly sad.

Time to create a new poll i guess.
Who will buy Nokia next year ?

                          Apple

Anonymous, 23 May 2012If this is true then Nokia is truely stupid to anounce this... moreYup, it is the same story he did by killing the N9 on launch. Had it been a country he would have been thrown into jail for damaging activities....

Symbian is dead, in fact Nokia killed it. But don't worry Symbian users, now you have a really good news. Most of you have heard about the new custom ROM called XperiaMod which is built on Ice Cream Sandwitch which seamlessly runs in all Xperias, Htc and all 2011 and 2012 Symbial devices from Nokia. For more information about the update please visit www.facebook.com/XperiaMod and wait for the update procedure. For the first time Nokia devices running Android, Cheers :)

Alin, 23 May 2012Elop is making the same damaging strategy like he did on 11... moreYes it sure looks like he is doing a great job at killing Nokia. Does anyone doubt that his mission is to get Nokia in a position where his real employer can buy the company and all its patents cheap....

I'm sure they will still want to add a few tweaks to the 808 Pureview. They wouldn't dump support just like that - unless they do make a Windows Phone version. But I think Mr Elop is running Nokia into the ground!
