Some are reporting missed calls and texts, others that the phone does not work at all. The official launch of the 8 series is tomorrow.

Davy Jones, 28 Apr 2020This year is not good for ambitious and overpriced phones.lmaoExactly! I hate monopol, but Xiaomi and OnePlus didn't even try offering a good package for a competitive price this year. Last year Xiaomi offered mi 9 and mi 9T pro with Snapdragon 855 for 350 Euro, now they ask 1000 Euro for their latest flagship, One Plus also 1000 Euro. Well... why buy a brand that almost nobody knows about for 1000 Euro when I could get the S20 with Snapdragon for 700 Euro (840 Euro for S20+) and have a device that is easier to hold and use, especially on the go.

As I said on another article, looks like OnePlus rushed this launch without doing due diligence.

It's much better to keep more than 2000 miles social
distance away from both - OnePlus and Verizon !

Article quote, "The phones require something called “CDMA-less” mode to operate on the carrier, but that can’t be activated – Verizon’s network has a whitelist of allowed devices"

The commentariat appear to believe this is a OnePlus issue. I beg to differ. This is a Verizon problem, as it insists upon the usage of "CDMA-less" devices.

The term "CDMA-less device" refers to a 3GPP Type 3 (LTE-centric device with 3GPP legacy modes with GSM voice fallback) or 3GPP Type 4 (LTE-only device with GSM voice fallback) device.

Exactly the same issue arose with the OnePlus 6T on Verizon, and its successors from the seventh series.

One would and should expect to be able to remove their SIM from their old phone, placing it into a new one. For most cellular carriers that's how it works - but not Verizon. They still insist on using an antiquated system that is on its way out.

TL;DR Verizon is the c**t. This ain't news; it is as one would have expected. So nothing to see here folks, move along please, and ensure you're all following the two-metre social distancing guidelines...

OnePlus is starting to make Apple and Samsung look good.

Apple is making cheaper phones with 5 years of upgrades, Samsung is making flagships that get Android security patches the day before Pixel devices.

OnePlus is making expensive flagships that aren't any better, or are worse than Xiaomi phones at a third the price.

"It is not an issue it is a Feature" - Carl Pei, 28.04.2020

Just another bad flaw about this overated cheap in parts overpriced experiment and the fanboys continues to defend it by saying -- "it's you not the OP8 for goodness sake."

                Sounds familiar.

The Houston comments guy is clearly looking for likes. He's been posting these similar pattern comments on all OnePlus articles. It's getting annoying to be honest.
