thnx a lot sony... today i will go and throw my xperia play from the highest building that i see and never buy the same expensive shit again in my life. and more over this is not a gaming device, its just average device but with double the weight. thank you again for the great phone..

Feel sorry for all sony ericsson xperia play customers not getting the update. Guess you're not the only ones, samsung galaxy ace stuck on gingerbread too. BUT get the arc s or other, and feel happy, unleash your happiness and love of android with the 4.0 update. Otherwise, you are stuck with a gingerbread flavoured phone.

I'm fan of sony in 9 Year's I used 28 sony mobiles I really disappointed with xperia play no ics update. Lies not a good for a good sony company. In your boot logo returns (make believe) don't use that just change it to not believe,lier,cheater.
HI sony fans now iPhone,Samsung similar to Sony it's very truthfully and believable

This is completely ridicules and disappointing I got this phone on a two year contract now its a dead phone I was a faithful customer of sony now look how i get screwed over with a dead xperia play 2.3.3 by att i cannot even unlock the bootloader to install a custom rom and i couldn't even try out the beta they had better give us some type of update because this is just sad.

Unfortunately, sony seems to believe ICS is too expensive or not worthy to develop. Thy simply won't be bothered with that.
That happened with 3G nativive video calls. Th e front camera was there, but UNLIKE LG ans Samsung they didn't care enough to provide it.
The same happened with the intro of an FM Radio. It would mean peanuts to the final price... did they do it? No, sire!
LG (P970) has got 3g video caling. The galaxy 2 also allows 3g "native" video calling.
That means today's top sellers across Europe provide video calling as a strong selling point.
Sony's sales are dwindling and the poor customer support is an essential reason for that.
Not many people wish to buy a new model and LOSE functions.
For the price the Xplay was introduced in continental europe, most phones provided native video calls.
Result? The Xplay didn't sell nearly as much as expected and the poor sales continued, despite sucessive price drops which didn't work.
Other example/causes for this evident failure? Any midrange phone has got FM Radio - The Xplay doesn't.
Contrarily to ALL that had been announced, the Xplay will NOT get ICS update. And that capacity of being upgraded was paid for i the phone's retail price.
We were paying a team of developers who would avoid Android defragmentation and keep our phones' market value by keeping them updated with th latest OS.
LIES, all Lies!
That actually reveals how UNimportant customers are to large companies.
No feedback to customers' output:
NO 3G Video Calls;
NO FM Radio;
No camera improvements (as were made to other Xperia phones)
(List may continue).
Sony has actually lied and deceived all those who bought the phone based on the announced premise that it would be "upgradeable".
Maybe, we are also guilty of buying more and more (often) phones that are not that different... but are more and more expensive.
Unless we stop financing these companies with our purchases, their web of deceival won't finish.
They'll just keep us coming back for more...
Is sony going the right way? It's just not me: Sales figures and market shares also seem to agree....
NO, it isn't.
Without positive feedback from their customers, without a reliable trustful image on the market, sony will keep adding one bad result after another.
No marketing campaign will save them unless they change their attitude towards those who pay their large incomes: The Customers.
Of course, trolling will go on: As the orchestra kept on playing while the Titanic sank.
Man, did they play... but it didn't stop the disaster from happening and the ship from sinking...

This is the answer from sony after having sold the Xplay as an ICS phone.
You still happy?
then you're a mere herd of fanboys and employees ready to lie for the ones who get your money.
Strange as these trolls seem to be happy after being deceived and lied to.
You enjoy being abused?
Consumers need to fight for their rights.
The Xplay was meant to get ICS, its price reflected that.
And, in order to keep selling, sony continued reporting it would all be fixed, and their developers were working to get customers the best gaming experience.
Someone with coroporate responsibilities has lied, has deceived thousands of buyers from all over the world.
As the ones who've made their part, who've paid (and are still paying for this phone), we've got every right to demand due compensation and that justice is done.
Boycotting sony products worldwide?
That's a fair, legal action that can be taken and that - if globally accepted - will make them realise how dishonest they've been and how regretful we are.
Maybe, just maybe, they will learn the lesson.
Maybe, just maybe, we'll make a point.
If not for us, for future buyers.

Lies. That is all you've given consumers to make more and more money.
What about ethics, honesty and responsibilty?
Using ICS as a selling strong point, releasing a beta version and replying critics by saying their devs were working on it and that ICS would be a far better experience... all for what?
Saying, "No ICS for you, we're sorry".
Too much trouble for a single phone. That is what it's all about.
They really don't care enough to be bothered.
Moreover, the money is already in their safes, so why should they bother?
Consumers are only useful as money providers. Other than that, they're forgotten.
That means it is time we treat them the same way!
We don't need them. Let's show them that!

sony uk has not even bothered to respond to thousands of upset disappointed customers ..even a word of sympathy or solace .. gsm arena ..please- is legal action to verify sony claims of instability viable ?

sony uk dishonesty is the issue -- sony must have known all along no ics for xperia play because updates cost sony money --which is already included in over inflated original prices ... not end of the world --we hope end of sony lies deceipts ..indeed end of lies deceipts overcharging by handset makers and service providers .. UK NEEDS STRONGER CONSUMERS PROTECTIONS LAWS ..

Well, I'm the one whose over excited in the time of waiting for my xperia play receive ICS update. And finally, this model are rejected from the list. I was so disappointed... I just can't believe this is happen to my phone model and for me as well. Maybe, this is the sign that I have really make my mind to move over and buy another brand. Mostly, I will buy Samsung product, from it's phone to smart tv and home theater set too.. Thanks for this product. Giving me a second option. And Sony, sorry. Bye..bye..

People must realise sony is neither reliable nor trustworthy.
If they were, they would propose some kind of refund to all tjhose who have been deceived by sony's continued advertising.
As soon as they get your money, they'll abandon and forget you and your rights as a consumer.

Dear Xperia (PLAY) owner,
As you might have heard, Sony has dropped the ICS upgrade for the Xperia Play. They state they won't be able to guarantee us the best gaming experience possible.
Well at first the current state of the software the Play is using is far from what they call "best". It is still buggy, and would now seem abandoned by Sony. Here we refer to the lack of games, or decent working games, updates and in general finished software.
Now that Sony is not able to keep their promises, the Xperia play; a product they praised and called evolutionary is doomed and directed to die quietly.
If you don't want your smartphone to be left behind, then support the protest and get what you have paid for and were promised.
