Meizu teases the 17 Pro with 129-degree ultra-wide cam and next-gen speakers

01 May 2020
This could very well be the widest ultra-wide camera on the market.

Anonymous, 02 May 2020Only LG and HTC? You mean only LG and Sony.Only LG*. And I doubt if they'll continue with this strategy, since they're changing their mobile division rn.

Sony doesn't have any special feature in the audio department, whereas LG has dedicated DACs and special audio software (LG's music player).

I always like Meizu, they're bringing new innovations and think out fo the box.
And with the right price *looking at you OnePlus

No big OEM cares about audio, just LG and HTC (one struggle, other in coma)
So I really appreciate if Meizu can deliver stereo quality of HTC boomsound

On wide angle, it's one of the widest.
My LG V50S has 136 degree fov.

Anonymous, 01 May 2020Sony Xperia 1 has 130And cost more than double than this phone. This will cost 400 - 600 euros depending the variant vs 1250 eruos of the Xperia 1. Are phones for different customers... Who buy this phone will never spend the quantity of money that Sony ask.

                Sony Xperia 1 has 130

129-degree? I wonder how much the effective focal length would be.

Meizu is proof that not every chinese brand only looks same each other.

This is a perfect opportunity for Meizu to be an excellent option outside of China and take the place that Oneplus and Xiaomi left. This phone look amazing and his price too.

MagicMonkeyBoy, 01 May 2020Need to keep your eyes on Meizu... This is your oneplus today. They were much more popular years ago and have have declined greatly and lost huge market share in recent years. Very different from oneplus which can use its parent company Oppo's tech and has plenty of support from a very large group. Oneplus thrived due to this support from Oppo. Difficult for Meizu to compete as a small independent company. It's a shame because they tend to do their own thing in terms of design

IMHNI, 01 May 2020Ohh...sounds good. but the success of the phone will depend... moreNo.. High price like iPhone and Galaxy S and Note series sold very well too.. Huawei P and Mate series too.. That's because of good reputation, good markering, and good software update.

The main problem of Meizu is not availability outside China (only at Russia too and some few region) and slow update with software. Flyme forum is also looks deserted.

Meizu pricing is quite good. Not expensive and not sooo cheap.

Meizu is mostly if not entirely focused on the local Chinese market. If they could give the same attention to other big global markets, even with small margins, that might bring them customers and recognition.

Hopefully less of optical distortion, ideally zero. That and quality hi res output matters more than few degrees.

LG G5 was around 135°. In fact it was amazing and fun (including the ridiculous distortion)!
