Depending on the camera placement, the secondary screen may grow in size too.

Pattern B is better, bigger for the front of the screen.

Otherwise the function is very limited for the front of the screen. Maybe it can be emulated on Motorola.

I am very interested in this. I just hope its not over priced, like many of their phones are when first released. they burn their first adopters with high prices and then a few months later lower their prices. burned my wife twice, first with an S8 (she loved it) and now with her S20 which she likes a lot. but just soon after she did the trade in on samsung dot com, now they dropped prices by $200-300, kind of un-fare in my opinion.

As said in the article, a lot of patents designs doesn't even make it further than the idea stage.
And the reason is fully economical, pure capitalism...
Making patents isn't anymore about preparing a new product, it is about owning idea so if anyone else for any reason want to make such product, they'll need to pay, it can also be used to earn money through court for intellectual property infringement, or simply, after all the research have been done and time and money was spend, striking a company who made something remotely similar, which is a shady but sadly a working strategy.

Everyone: "Samsung, please make the outer display bigger/more usable"

Samsung: "Sure, here's an extra camera"

They're definitely going for Model B. Some of the reviewers were complaining the front display is too small.

It's a different category of foldables appealing to a different audience preferring the smaller camshell design. LG implementation appeals to a different set of audience.

                            https://www.gsmarena.com/zte_axon_m-8902.php

Secondly, dual-screen is good for multitasking, but not good for media consumption. Nobody wants to watch bezels in the middle of the screen while watching media or playing games.

Both implementations have their advantages and disadvantages.

But this is just the beginning, friend. Even though there are very few models right now, Samsung Displays is experiencing a hundred fold increase in demand for foldable display panels. That says something about what to expect. Soon, every company will unleash a wide variety of clamshell phones.
