TL;DR :
Thrust me, you want better biometric and you want peoples spending their time to talk about some features.
Long version :
The problem is, when someone make a post/comment or anything to praise the quality of a RARE feature/tech that have ADVANTAGES and lots of POSITIVE aspects, but also that a lot of peoples want, there is always an idiot (not you) to come and criticize said feature/tech, as if he doesn't have the choice within the bazillion of products who already don't have such feature, he is forced to just ruin everything.
Because, regardless what peoples believe, even a small comment on a low popularity website about X or Y smartphone CAN affect the evolution of other phones, and if we talk about a website such as GSMArena who have quite a lot of popularity in the subject, any comment can potentially have a dramatic impact on the evolution of things, from a lineup to a brand to the whole market, because influential peoples, high grade members of X or Y company, or what happen really often, investors can read that exact comment, it happened many times that a simple single comment had a huge impact.
So yeah, sadly those haters have lots of free time in their hands to criticize good features that are rare and desired by many peoples, or defend features that are literally saturating the market and that most peoples don't want, as if the comment they spit their hate on would cause said feature to appear on all phones or disappear completely, even the huge impact of comment, even made by a highly influential person can't just make a features invasive to the market to make an invasive one disappear...
And we need peoples to actually try and push those great features...
Now more than ever our privacy is at risk, and the best way to start fixing it is with better biometric and general security, biometric when properly implemented will be done through a dedicated chip that can't allow biometric data to leak anywhere, improve the security, but also help generating a really secure hash code to encrypt personal data which only our own body can unlock, also this will prevent any attempt to format the phone as even the bootloader will be secured through those biometric and pattern/pin/password inside the dedicated security chip, meaning our smartphone will literally have no value for thief.
So even if you don't care about access to your data, or your private life, do you REALLY don't care about having your phone thief-proof ?
That's why I try everytime I can (without spamming, only on the relevant subject) to sensibilise peoples about those features !

Could be used on Android too, but peoples are stupid and for some unknown and obscure reasons they are against progress and don't want 3D facial recognition on their phone?
Meanwhile the iPhone 2020 is rumored to go on the opposite direction and on top of the 3D facial recognition, could also add an ultrasonic underdisplay fingerprint scanner (far better than optical and capacitive ones), and if they are smart enough, they could make an option to combine both which exponentially increase the security !

But in any cases, the way security work should be rethink, an app should have X or Y security method implemented but rather a generic security function that summon a security level, let me explain :
All the security methods available on a phone have a security level ID with them, for example from lowest to highest security :
1 regular pattern; 2 pin code; 3 improved pattern; 4 password; 5 2D camera facial recognition; 6 optical fingerprint scanner; 7 2D IR camera facial recognition; 8 Iris scanner; 9 3D facial recognition & palm recognition; 10 ultrasonic fingerprint scanner; 11 improved 3D facial recognition & improved ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.
When combining multiples, their level ID are added.
Each app have a "sensitivity level" allowing for setting the minimum required security (0 mean no need to secure it), sensitivity level could also be applied to specific functionality in an app, and the app require to have the matching security level ID as a minimum to access it, of course any biometric level are only available if such feature is available on the phone.
And the user should be able to change those numbers, some will prefer password over fingerprint for example.
This way, regardless what security feature your phone have, all apps are automatically compatible with any of them, including any additional one that could be available in the future and user determiner combinaison of multiples security measures.

This is one of the reason why I think going back to iphone is the right move.
Google support IOS/IPAD OS devices better than it's own operating system Android. From functionality and quality wise.
Why should I stick with Android if everything google offers can be found on Apple but not the other way around !!!
