Nokia plans to make all Lumia and PureView phones waterproof

28 May, 2012
There's no hard date on when they'll start though. They'll use hydrophobic coating which they've demoed before.

AnonD-51996, 29 May 2012OK! You don't want to buy a Nokia... Do you have the courag... morewell that isn't fair..you trowing your n900..that thing is a brick.. try with a lumia or a similar slim phone from nokia and see how well it does. this myth that nokia is somehow crash proof is a very old fairy tale based on nokias first generation phones ..like the nomochrome display phones in the '90.. 3310, 5150, etc..those phones were , just like anyother phone of that era, crash resistant..there was just a very thick mobo and a very tick and simple display inside and a rubber keypad. nothign could go wrong with a phone like that. try it with a lumia , i'm sure the phone will spli in 2 pieces. the cover and the touchscreen/lcd unit. simple as that. just like any other similar phone from other brands. so stopi lying about your invincible nokia ..that was 15 years ago..today its all cheaply build ..the faster it breaks the faster the people go back to buy another one.

This is what I have been saying is going to differentiate smartphones from one another now. Technical specifications are becoming less and less important. The performance between my g2x and my galaxy s2 is not noticeable at all, and the performance between the s2 and the s3 even less so. All phones have great email clients, access to tons of apps, voice guided gps, etc. If battery life and waterproofing/shock-proofing can be implemented on sleek smartphones, Nokia has a winner and they can grab a big market share. I will get a Lumia phone if they have these features for sure.

It seems to me the market has been quite WindowsPhone-phobic without the help of any nano technology. Do Nokia have a lab somewhere away from Redmond WA working on fixing this ?

Believe me, Nokia's next flagship Windows phone (running WP8) is even more beautiful than the Lumia. Despite what (android) fanboy sites on the internet are reporting, it looks nothing like the 800/900.

This is Nokia's new thing. This hydrophobic nanotechnology can laugh in Moto's face.

                                        Really, get it right.
