Only slider phones like the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3, but they are rare :
https://www.gsmarena.com/results.php3?sFreeText=Manual pop-up
And those with a part of the body that lift like the Oppo Find X, are a sub type of pop up that is vulnerable to water.
And the pop up can actually be made smaller, cheaper, more reliable and having less wear (even if it already isn't an issue) and totally waterproof (not just water resistant).

IP doesn't make it water proof, but make it water resistance

Just keep your phone away from water, people have been doing this way longer before phones became ip rated. The warranty doesn't water damage anyway.

        Xiaomi nowadays:
Everybody laughs at them, but everybody is interested in their phones.
This shows that the most important thing when buying a phone remains the price. Even though there are some compromises to be made, people are still willing to let go of some things, just for lower prices.
And that for me is smarter than buying some very expensive smartphone just because it has some small things extra, that probably people will never used after 2-3 months.

It just means the phone is somewhat water resistant if you submerged it in a small pool of fresh water i.e. not sea or swimming pool. But why would you want to do that?

AnonD-844967, 10 May 2020Pop up means no IP rating and less reliability. The only g... moreFalse, false and false again.
The Pop up is TOTALLY reliable, that's the constant bashing with totally false informations based on theory and who don't apply on real life that peoples constantly say about pop up, you peoples really need to stop with that busted old myth of fragile/fast wearing/low reliability claims about the pop up...
There is almost no report of any pop up failure, and "almost" doesn't mean hundreds, it mean like a single post on OnePlus forum and few answers.
The display, the chips and the battery are less reliable and wear more than a pop up.

Not only IP rating is totally useless in any cases, but also it isn't waterproof, it is water resistant, which is totally different, and there are many video showing the pop is actually water resistant to a more than enough level :
                  https://youtu.be/MXgB8b8Ndfo
You don't need more than being able to survive like 20cm for 1 minutes in almost every scenario, the goal is to have a phone that survive an accidental drop in water, not to have a submarine (that the IP rating doesn't even give).
IP rating is just a label that confirm that SOME phones (only few are tested) can pass ONCE a test in laboratory conditions and cost MILLIONS that will increase the selling price.
Official statement from Samsung Warranty page :
"Dust and Water-Resistant (IP68 rating) does not mean that the device is waterproof. Service for the Liquid damage to Samsung Galaxy smartphone isn’t covered by the Samsung one year warranty or Samsung Smart Care Protection Plan."

And that's the point, privacy is way more important than how well the narcissistic selfie camera work, if the pop up got stuck you just loose some comfort on secondary use of non important use of the phone...
Or to make you think you can film a submarine at his max depth while your phone could actually die within 2 minutes at 10cm because you have a phone that doesn't match the lucky statistics of IP rating and to make you mad because no brands, including those who got IP rating on their phone support water damage on warranty (which is enough to say they aren't confident on their level of water protection).
Privacy in the future might literally save your life, your freedom and your civilisation, or the lack of it could doom those.

And it is pleasant to see that the trending phones this week contain pop up and bezel with uninterrupted display.

I mean the fact that a middle range Apple with massive bezels and a 3 Yo Galaxy with acceptable bezel and no type of hole or notch is in the list of trending phones SURELY isn't an indication that peoples start to get more than bored about all those hole, notch and god knows what new way to destroy the display they'll come up with...
