Huawei P40 lite 5G is the European version of the nova 7 SE

11 May 2020
Don't confuse it with the P40 lite (based on the nova 6 SE). Or with the P40 lite E (based on the Y7p).

Not everyone is so intertwi... moreActually, whatsapp, facebook, twitter, instagram, tiktok, telegram and messenger are all available as apps. Not all are directly available in the Huawei App Gallery but can be easily and safely downloaded from the Amazon App Store or directly from the original publisher. The only difference I noticed between my new P40 and my old Samsung is the lack of the Youtube and Google Maps apps. The mobile web version of Youtube works seamlessly, thanks to the powerful CPU. I honestly can't make a difference between the app and the mobile site. Huawei already solved the absence of Google Maps by making HereWeGo available and it works just as good and is well integrated into other apps for location. This being said, Google Maps is still possible to access from the web page, although I didn't need it at all. Also the Huawei App Gallery is steadily growing with apps added every day.
I actually found using the new Huawei phone nothing short of a pleasant experience. Huawei has done an excellent job. I am seriously thinking of getting my wife the P40 lite 5G instead of her current Samsung. It is already available for pre-order. I'm only waiting for gsmarena's review to check the battery life.

They need to fix the things with US government and get google apps and services again or else sales will massively decrease. Already are decreasing.

Oh good, Chinese smartphone companies with their ever-confusing smartphone model names and here I thought that Xiaomi excels best at that. Thank God OnePlus is not falling for such thing.

nepu.bug, 11 May 2020Sounds interesting but who will buy a phone without Google ... moreI would. As of right now, I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 running Havoc-OS Pie without Google Mobile Services installed. What I'm using as its replacement instead is the open source microG and F-Droid, and I'm not feeling any loss at all. In fact, it is a much better experience as the performance and battery life is miles better than before. That is why I am eyeing on using non-GMS Huawei smartphones.

nepu.bug, 11 May 2020Sounds interesting but who will buy a phone without Google ... moreWhat exactly do I need GMS for? Not everyone is so intertwined with the google ecosystem. If someone just uses their phone to take some photos, read emails, text people, and maybe play casual games while waiting, then they don't need GMS. It's been said that major apps like Facebook and Twitter will "eventually be available" on Huawei's own platform, and in the meantime people can make use of web-based Quick Apps. There's plenty of people who would buy a phone without Google, the fact that Huawei is still selling phones in other countries and hasn't withdrawn to selling in China only is somewhat proof of that.

That space silver color looks sleek. Price seems expensive, though.
