[deleted post]Funny how people said the same thing almost 2 decade ago when China started manufacturing mobiles. Now look, hardly anyone cares where the phones is manufactured. Everyone goes gaga over the new iPhones every single year.

Don't worry you will come around, eventually.

[deleted post]That's some largest BS I've heard. Yes, he wants Congress free India but it's upto the people to decide which obviously they won't. It's not like he is constitutionally declaring India as uniparty country. India is a multiparty country, any aspiring party if they have necessary representations, can form government in India. Don't believe media, they're the worst thing.

Smart move Apple. China has become too expensive and shady.

[deleted post]Made in India products are much higher in quality than Made in China products, infact are comparable to Made in USA products. All depends on how much you are paying.

Don't put all your eggs in one basket. China got so much leverage right now over Apple they can easily put them in financial trouble by shutting down its factories.

[deleted post]What about other manufacturers especially Samsung as the biggest company? Foxconn also manufactures parts for other OEMs as well. It's just the same. If you want a phone that does not involve abuse of its employees, try to buy minor brand phones such as Meizu, Infinix, Lava, etc. haha

India is the worst location to move iPhone production. Better move it to Vietnam, Myanmar, Indonesia, Malaysia, etc. where workforce is equally cheap.

All companies should move to free democratic countries like India. World needs to wake up.

Take this report from India with a large bucket of salt. This contradicts other recent reports regarding Foxconn's plan to scale down its operation in India. Apple does not own any of the supply chain companies in China, and therefore it is not up to Apple to decide where to move the supply chain. It is not even up to Foxconn's decision. Many of the companies in Apple's supply chain have substantially diversified their operations in recent years, and are no longer reply on Apple's production plan as much as in the past. There have been so many such reports from India over the past few years regarding the various relocation plans of other major companies, but only extremely few come to any kind of fruition.

Exyvia, 12 May 2020Basically who can make the phones the cheapest so Apple mak... moreThat's also because of the economic war between the USA and China...
There was a lot of things between Trump and China, but recently :
                              USA ban Huawai
Huawai say China won't buy anymore stuff from the USA
USA force Samsung to turn against China
Huawei took actions to still make profits and prefer China based stuff.
USA force Apple to move its production outside of China...

Just moving production where it is cheaper isn't by itself a valid strategy, you need to make sure it will keep being that way in the long run (and India is quickly progressing, meaning this way of using them as cheap production won't last that long), and if moving all your equipment and building again new factories and re-managing all your logistic is worth it !

We will see a big economic war probably upscalling to a cold war between the USA and China, this is just another step...Smartphone market is worth billions, that's a strategic interest.

It may not happen at all and I may sound stupid, but IMO, this is a likely scenario...

Basically who can make the phones the cheapest so Apple makes the most profit.

Right now, India is cheaper than China.
