The market share isn't even a rounding figure in the grander scheme of things.
There's nothing BAD as per say for the Google phones, they're just another average run of the mill middle-ranger phone with an rumoured to be above average software.
Faster? Not really.
More privacy? Absolutely not.
More secure? When it's compulsory to give google access to every bit of data, no.
Battery*? No, definitely not with google actively tracking everything that you do.
Good camera? Not too bad
Good Screen? No.
Good design? Most people don't think so.
*What does google track? Your gps location, your movement data, your driving/riding/public transport habits, how long you spend in each location/shop, which apps you have installed, which apps you use and how long, which browsers you use, which web pages you visit and how long you spend, what do you buy online, how much you spend, your interests from your searches, the type of sites you browse, what messages you send, what you chat about, what are trending among your friends when interacting with you, life events that may have happened, your sleep patterns, etc.
Yes your pixel reports everything above + much more to google. It generates tens of MB of data and connects to mother ship every night after you sleep and when you're not using the phone.

I was actually very interested in buying the 4a which is to me way more attractive than the SE in many aspects but now that it is delayed and we know that an Iphone 12 5'4 might be realeased before EOY and at an interesting low price, I might wait for that one then..

A piece of ugly looking plastic device with low-end specs that no one actually wants to buy. Paid to be heavily promoted by Tech blogs who usually have not much idea about photography.
I don't think it's delay will be much missed, considering 10 million phones of the entire Pixel 3 family was sold/shipped/given away in 18 months compared to 1.5 billion phones sold last year.

Well, considering it'll be 400€ for 64gb(non expandable) rom and a poor 3000mAh battery, I guess they shouldn't even bother releasing it.
It's fkn 2020, not 2017 all-over again.

I wish it was smalmer. I have Mi 9 SE now and its 147 tall, 144 is not enough. I want below 140, like the iPhone SE but with a look of 2020 and not 2014.
